Sam H. Eatmon, 90, of Osceola, was well loved by his community and family. He passed away on Thursday, April 24, 2025. Sam was born in Wilson on April 16, 1935, to Alvis and Louise Eatmon. He loved his beautiful wife Jenny, and would tell their love story often. Luci Lu, his little fur baby girl, was the apple of his eye.
Sam was a member and Junior Warden for Calvary Episcopal Church in Osceola, a member of the VFW, Kiwanis, Lions Club, and American Legion. He was an Army Veteran who took great pride in his work. Sam worked for Roller-Swift Funeral Home for 22 years and was honored as employee of the year in 2009. He retired from ABF after 21 years, where he was the Supervisor of Operations. Sam loved spending time with Luci Lu, telling his and Jenny's love story, new cars, especially those Cadillacs, keeping things in tip-top shape, and dressing to the nines.
Sam leaves to cherish his memory, his wife: Jenny Eatmon, daughter: Vicki Jo McArthur, son: David (Donna) Felder, brother: Paul (Pat) Eatmon, sister: Sanda Bricker, brother-in-law: Larry (Marsha) Robinson, a score of nieces and nephews, and his Roller Family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings: Charlene Trimm, Wally Hicks, Judy Garner, Sharon Walker, Dale Eatmon, and Clay Eatmon.
The visitation will be held at Roller-Swift Funeral Home on Tuesday, April 29, 2025, from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm, with the funeral service following at 2:00 pm. Sam is my savior. As a small child in the very early 1960’s, many people moved from Osceola to Chicago where there was work. My family and Sam included. We lived in the same apartment building in South Chicago. Sam was coming home from working the night shift and found me sleep walking. He picked me up and took me home to my unknowing parents. I often wonder what would have happened to me had Sam not found me that night. I love you Sam Eatmon. You were a kind and gentle soul and I will always love you. Rest in peace and say hello to my mom and dad.
