of Bauxite, AR
July 7, 1943 - March 25, 2025
Cleburne Dale Pope Jr., age 81, went to be with his Lord and Savior Tuesday, March 25th 2025. He was born July 7th, 1943, the son of Cleburne and Georgia Pope. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Mary Louise Pope. He is survived by his son, Dale Dwayne Pope and his wife, Michele and grandson, Joshua Logan Pope all of Tampa, Florida; four sisters, Cheryl Calvert from Conway, Marilyn Yeargan of Indiana, Joan Draper of Vilonia, LaJeanne Mack Wilson (Shawn) of Indiana, Jolene Fullen of Bauxite; two brothers, Jerry and Jimmy Pope of Conway and many loving nieces and nephews.
Dale (as he chose to go by), grew up with a love for cars. He would later race a stock car at the now closed I-30 Speedway in Little Rock. Dale had an incredible work ethic and after driving a wrecker for several companies, he eventually started his own wrecker company, Pope's Wrecker Service in Little Rock. He loved his family, NASCAR and never wanted anyone to go out of their way for him although he would do anything to help others.
I will always remember Uncle Dale's sideways grin and the twinkle in his eyes when he would get tickled at one of us. He would purse his lips trying not to laugh, but it would come out anyway. If you got a "You did good kid", that was the highest compliment! My heart hurts for us left here, but I am so happy for him to be with Jesus now. I hope they have awesome car shows up there!!
