of Searcy, AR
April 13, 1945 - February 2, 2025
Wilbur Lamar Stevens, age 79, went home to meet his Lord on February 2, 2025 surrounded by family in Searcy, Arkansas.
He was born on Friday the 13th in April 1945, the son of James William and Edna Mae Stevens in West Helena, Arkansas. He was one of six children.
Wilbur served in the Army and was a Vietnam veteran. He was a member of Park Avenue Church and had served in several positions. Wilbur was a Sunday School teacher for years who loved his class deeply. He also helped cook for Awana Clubs on Wednesdays, which was special to him. He loved seeing all the kids who came to know Jesus through Awana.
Wilbur worked thirty-six years for Southwestern Bell and AT&T doing telephone installation and repair. After taking early retirement he felt he was too young to retire, so he started his own business doing telephone installation and repair for ten more years.
Wilbur is preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Calvin, Mike and Richard Stevens.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years Bernell Stevens; two children, Jason Carmichael (Erin) of Carrollton, Georgia and Melissa Morris (Jason) of Searcy, Arkansas; six grandchildren, Abigayle and Addyson Morris of Searcy, Arkansas, Brady, Rylan, McKenna and Keegan Carmichael of Carrollton, Georgia; one brother, Tommy Stevens of Southaven, Mississippi; one sister, Betty Harris of Mt. View, Arkansas; as well as nieces, nephews, cousins and his beloved church family.
A visitation will be held 10:00 AM Wednesday, February 5, 2025 at Roller-Daniel Funeral Home with service to follow at 11:00 AM. Interment will be at White County Memorial Gardens.

This loss is truly devastating. Wilbur was a beautiful light in a dark world, always smiling and making sure to embody Christ in every way. I pray he is in the angel’s choir, surrounded by all the saints who have gone before him. Death is not the end; it’s simply a see you soon. Much love from the Lunceford family.
What a blessing it was for our family to get to know Wilbur! His kindness made an impact on my kids and I'm sure countless others. We'll cherish the friendship we had with him and look forward to meeting with him again, undoubtedly for a hi-fives for the kiddos. We will pray for peace for Bernell and their kids.
