Betty Faye Jones

of Batesville, AR

February 22, 1942 - September 26, 2024

Betty Faye Jones changed her address from earth to heaven on Thursday, September 26, 2024. She started her earthly journey in Jasper, Alabama on February 22, 1942 to her late parents, Homer and Mary Wright Edwards.

Betty was the sweetest, smartest, Canasta playing, jokester, you will ever meet.
She always had a smile on her face and if you did not have one she would give you one of hers.
She was the youngest of nine; she said they kept trying until they got it right.

Betty worked for Bobbie Brooks Sewing Factory in Helena, Arkansas and also for the Elaine school district as a teacher's aid. She later returned to Phillips Community College to receive her LPN license. She later spent her career working at Crestpark Nursing Home in Helena, Arkansas. When she was forty-seven years old she returned to college and received her RN license. If you are here today and you think you are too old for a career change, Betty would say go for it because it was the best thing she ever did. Her calling was definitely to help other people. She went to work and finally retired from the West Helena Health Department. Betty felt as work was not work, it was enjoying her friendships there everyday.
Betty had a sweet-tooth for Mounds candy bars and even in her final weeks she would enjoy them and say, ''Yum-Yum''. It was the only thing she could hold in her own hand and enjoy. She was also a huge fan of ''The Best Coke in Town, Burger Shack''. If you had one, you definitely know why. When she moved to Batesville, Arkansas her sweet daughter, Kim, was worried they would lose revenue because Betty could no longer go three times a day. Betty's favorite hobbies in life included spending time with her grandchildren, playing a game of Bingo or cards and lastly, playing funny jokes on people she loved.

Kim's husbands would always joke that you can never turn your back, because you never know who might be Betty's next victim. Kim asked Betty one time if she thought Bingo was gambling and Betty responded with, ''Of course not, because she did not expect to win, ever not paid a bill and paid the Lord her tithe''. There were many to welcome her home at those pearly gates, her loving husband of thirty years, Robert Earl Jones; one grandson, Landon Tucker Jones and many siblings, James Wright (Mavis), Henry Wright (Marie), Harry Wright (Virginia), Robert Wright (Barbara), Alpha May Jones (Herbert), Mary Alice Rose (John), Geraldine Sorell (Elbert) and Pearline Wright.

Left to carry on her amazing memory was one daughter, Kim Snell (Len) of Batesville, Arkansas; one son, Steven Earl Jones of Helena, Arkansas; one granddaughter, Brandi Michelle Ford of Batesville, Arkansas; one grandson, Robert Tanner Jones (Lindsey) of Coldwater, Mississippi; two great-grandchildren, Raelynn and Weston of Coldwater, Mississippi; one grand-dog, Soffie and one great-grand dog, Cooper. Also, a host of many family and great friends. Betty had two last requests before her journey, that we play the song, ''God's Not Dead'' and that one person get saved in her memory. So please, if you do not know the Lord today, come and give your life to him. We have to do as Betty says, so we will sit until someone is saved. Kim's friends often tell her that her mom's journey was long and hard. Kim was blessed and loved that she got to take that journey with her. Kim was once told she was her mother made over and that was the biggest compliment she had ever received.

As we all sit and remember Betty Faye and all her great memories, this tribute will live on as we often wonder if Jesus is telling her, her husband, parents and siblings to settle down many times as she used to tell us.

A funeral service for Betty Faye Jones will be held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 1, 2024 at Roller-Citizens Funeral Home Chapel in West Helena, Arkansas. A visitation will be held 5:00-7 p.m. Monday, September 30, 2024 at Roller-Citizens Funeral Home Chapel.

Services will be directed by the staff of Roller Citizens Funeral Home, West Helena, (870)-572-2571. Relatives and friends may sign the online guestbook at www.rollerfuneralhomes.com/westhelena.

It really has saddened my heart to hear of Ms Betty passing away . I only knew her for a short time as I took care of her but I loved her so much . She always made me feel better the days I was there to help her . At times her little smile would brighten my day . If it had not been for Kim letting me help take care of her I would have never have gotten to know the family. I pray that God helps you all in this time of loss . Betty will be missed by many . prayers for the days ahead . I love you guys

Betty was a very sweet woman who made the best German Chocolate cake I’ve ever put in my mouth. She spoiled my brother Robert with whom I miss dearly but I know the two are reunited and together again.

I have so many special memories of time spent with Ms. Betty, none so precious as on the Hwy 64 yard sales. She was always so pleasant to be around, and literally loved everyone! If you never had one of her sweet hugs you truly missed a blessing! I love you and your family Kim! May God comfort you in this time of grief!

Dear Aunt Betty,
Though our time together was brief, the impact you made on my life is everlasting. Thank you for helping me conquer my fear of roller coasters, teaching me to embrace adventure, and reminding me to always find joy and laughter in life. Your spirit will forever inspire me.

And for the family, my family sends our deepest condolences. We share in your sorrow and hope you find comfort in the cherished memories of Aunt Betty. Her legacy of love, laughter, and adventure will live on in all of us.
