Howard Trent

of Little Rock, AR

December 17, 1935 - May 21, 2024

Howard Trent, of Little Rock, passed away at home on May 21, 2024. He was born on December 17, 1935 in Batesville, Arkansas.

Howard was a man of strong Christian faith. He exhibited his faith through a life of prayer, especially for his family. His children remember seeing him kneeling at an old green couch praying daily when they were young. Howard literally wore out his Ryrie Study Bible through years of study. He was an amazingly selfless person. He always put others' interests ahead of his own. Howard lived life in a way that inspired people, especially his children and grandchildren.

Howard worked hard for his family. He sold insurance for almost seventy years until his children finally convinced him to ''retire'' when he turned eighty-seven. He loved people and was really funny. He was the king of the one-liners, and he made everyone he met laugh. In his last days, Howard spent many days in the hospital, but that did not stop him from blessing the people around him. His caregivers consistently told Howard's children, ''We just love your Dad.'' This was a typical reaction from people Howard encountered. He just made people feel good. Howard's wife, Donnie preceded him in her entrance to heaven. They were rarely apart and loved spending time together antiquing. He missed her every day, and no doubt is celebrating with her now.

Howard is survived by four children, Terry Woolard and her husband Robert, of Little Rock, Arkansas, Keith Trent and his wife, Lucy, of Charlotte, North Carolina, David Trent and his wife, Lisa, of Little Rock, and Steve Trent and his wife Katy, of Dallas, Texas. He was blessed with ten grandchildren, RJ and Ryan (Lily) Woolard, Garrett (Taylor) and Wilson (Martha) Trent, Carter (Mercedes) and Avery Trent, and Josie, Evie, Baker and Rush Trent, and six great grandchildren, Grayson and Gracie Woolard and Eden, Liam, Charlotte and Lucy Trent. He also was preceded in death by his parents, Mabel and Layman Trent.

Howard's funeral service will be held at 1 pm on Saturday, June 1, 2024 at Friendly Chapel Church of the Nazarene, 116 S. Pine Street, North Little Rock, AR with Brother Paul Holderfield, Jr. and Pastor Ryan Woolard officiating.

The family will receive friends one hour before the funeral service from 12 to 12:45 pm at the Church.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Friendly Chapel Church of the Nazarene, 116 S. Pine Street, North Little Rock, AR 72114.

Prayers for you all through this difficult time.

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction so that we will be able to comfort those who are in any affliction with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God. 2nd Corinthians 1:3-4
