I served in the Army.

George Allen SiskI am a Veteran.

of Big Flat, AR

December 3, 1925 - March 9, 2024

George Allen Sisk, age 98, of Big Flat, Arkansas went to be with the Lord Saturday afternoon, March 9th, 2024 at The Springs of Batesville, Arkansas. He was born on Roasting Ear Creek in Big Flat, Arkansas on December 3rd, 1925 to the late Fannie Bell Wallis Sisk and Noah Sisk. George married Jolene Anderson of Big Flat, Arkansas on February 25th, 1950. They were blessed with 71 years of marriage and four children before her passing on June 30th, 2021.

George served as an M.P. in the Army during the later part of WWII, achieving the rank of Corporal before his Honorable discharge in June of 1946. He was also awarded the American Theater Campaign Ribbon and the Victory Ribbon for his efforts. George and Jolene attended the Big Flat Assembly of God Church for many years, until they were no longer physically able. After the Army, he began his nearly life-long career of logging. He logged independently for many years using mules before he became a skidder operator for Pleasants Mill and Timber Company in Mountain Home, Arkansas, alongside his son, Jeff, until closure of the mill. He then continued the same work for many years for Bro. Larry Watts and for the last several years of his career as partners alongside his son, Lee. He attempted retirement at the age of 65 but after a brief pause, returned to the woods where he continued logging until his early eighties. George's work ethic and abilities were respected by all he worked for and with. Anyone who knew the man he was would always say, ''I hope I'm as in good of shape as George Sisk is when I'm that age.'' He was also a cattle farmer for many years and almost every year would grow a large, beautiful and productive garden that would provide for his family and then some. We were all his ''Kids'' as he would call us and he was always a man for all of us ''Kids'' to admire and look up to; Honorable, firm and strong in his beliefs.

Survivors include his children, Betty Davis, Jeffery Sisk (Belinda), Lee Sisk (Felicia) and Alyson Sisk; grandchildren, Nathan Sisk (Sharon), Tiffany Cottingham (Jason), Logan Sisk (Shelayna), Trenton Tilley, Tristen Sisk and Maci Kate Tilley; great-grandchildren, Ashlynn Vaughn, Christian Rymel (Hannah), Casin Rymel (Rae), Cameron Fouse and Katy Fouse (Marcus); great-great grandchildren, Renaux Cox, Rebel Rymel, Arlon Collins, Axle Rymel and Maelynn Collins; sister-in-law, Janis Sisk and nephews and niece, Bobby Joe Sisk (Becky), Mike Sisk (Kathy), Larry Sisk (Karen), Rodney Sisk, Randall Sisk (Christina) and Connie Chadwick (Carl).

George is preceded in death by his loving wife, Jolene Anderson Sisk; four infant siblings, Bertha Sisk, Pearly Louisa Sisk, Marvin Maylo Sisk and Arvis Joy Sisk; brothers, Noah Estes Sisk, Oves Ray Sisk (Zora) and Obed Junior Sisk; nephew, Billy Sisk; infant niece, Pamela Kay Sisk and one beloved son-in-law, Lucene Davis.

Funeral services for George will be 2:00 PM Wednesday, March 13th, 2024 at Big Flat Assembly of God Church with Bro. Darin Holliman and Bro. Larry Watts officiating. Visitation will be 1:00 till 2:00 PM preceding the service. Burial will be in Wallis Cemetery in Stone County, Arkansas. Bearers will be Lee Sisk, Logan Sisk, Tristen Sisk, Nathan Sisk, Mike Sisk, Rodney Sisk and Randall Sisk. Honorary bearers will be Jeff Sisk, Bobby Joe Sisk, Larry Sisk, Ricky Treat, Jeff Ramsey, Darrel Ramsey, Jimmy Joe Lawrence and Jesse Don Lawrence.

I got the privilege to meet Mr. Sisks when I started working at the nursing home that he was at. Every time I would see him he would ask me to marry him. I grew really close to him. I always wondered how he was. He always made you smile when you saw him. He is gonna be deeply missed. It is safe to say a lot of the staff loved him. When I had found out that he passed away I was really hurt because I was gonna miss him. But I try to look at the positive side. At least he isn’t suffering anymore. He has reunited with his wife like I’m sure he wanted to do. Im gonna miss him. I’m sorry for y’all’s loss.

He was a very sweet man and would get is going with laughter, dancing and his love for fruit, coffee, and his 3 musketeers. All of us here at The Springs of Batesville will miss him dearly. Much love & respect to the family. Great Uncle George is remembered and admired as one of the hardest working people I’ve ever known. As many have said “a man to be admired for his strength and resilience”. I have a vivid remembrance of his sincere smile and calmness. His life is an example of dedication & goodness.
