Oscar Lafayette Kendall, born January 9, 1936 in Cherry Valley, Arkansas passed away on December 24, 2023 at his home in Cherry Valley. He was 87 years old.

Oscar was born to parents, Oscar and Elsie Kendall.

On August 12, 1953, he married the love of his life, Mary Lee Watson. They were blessed with a son, David and three daughters, Marilyn, Judy and Sharon.

His career included owning and operating a grocery store in Dyess, Arkansas for many years. He then went on to work as Chief Engineer for Wisconsin Barge Line. He was a lifelong member of the Cherry Valley Baptist Church. His outside interest and accomplishment included traveling with his wife, Mary Lee, to all the states except Hawaii. He loved his family, which he was very proud of and his church family.

Oscar was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Mary Lee Kendall; four brothers, Melvin Kendall, James Kendall, Billy Kendall and Don Kendall; four sisters, Alice Gay, Maxine Stewart, Anise Wiley and Charline Sanders.

Surviving Oscar is his son, David (Tami) Kendall of Union City, Indiana; daughters, Marilyn (Freddie) Rogers of Payneway, Arkansas, Judy (Loyd) Barber of Ash Flat, Arkansas, Sharon (Doug) Gerber of Cherry Valley, Arkansas; 10 grandchildren; 25 great-grand-children and 4 great-great-grandchildren; sisters-in-love, Pauline Keck of Sulfur Rock and Cheryl Finlay of Cherry Valley, Arkansas and a host of nieces and nephews.

Services will be held on January 2, 2024 at Cherry Valley Baptist Church, Cherry Valley, Arkansas. Visitation will begin at 12 Noon followed by a funeral service at 1PM. The burial will take place at Bowers Cemetery in Cherry Valley, Arkansas.
