Betty Young

of North Little Rock, AR

August 19, 1928 - December 25, 2023

Betty Jo Shelby Young, 95, of Sherwood/North Little Rock, AR, entered the gates of Heaven on Christmas Day; Monday, December 25, 2023. Betty was born on August 19, 1928 in Center Hill, AR. She was loved and adored as the only child of Elton and Margaret Shelby.
Betty worshiped at the First United Methodist Church in North Little Rock and was an active member of her Sunday School, The Triunce Class. Betty loved spending time with the members of the class in times of fellowship. Betty was an executive secretary at Olin Corporation for 37 years before retiring in May 1989. Betty was very involved with various activities such as AARP, where she would attend potlucks, bingo and various trips. She loved playing Bridge at the Hays Center and Canesta at the North Shore Card Club. Betty was always ready for a road trip to Branson with her daughter and/or her cousins to watch shows and go shopping. She always enjoyed rooting for her Arkansas Razorbacks in football and basketball. She loved family gatherings, where she would enjoy cooking, visiting and dancing with her great grandchildren.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Elton and Margaret Shelby and her beloved husband, Roger Young.
Betty leaves behind her loving family who will always cherish the memories that were made with her. Mother to Ann Perkins (Rik) of Sherwood, AR; Grandmother to Kyle Henson (Devin), Sally Davis and Darran Perkins (Holly) and Nana to her great-grandchildren, Kagan Davis (Vanessa), Collin Davis, Drake Henson, Karsen Henson and Jenna Perkins and one sweet fur baby, Miss Lilly and a host of cousins, neighbors and friends. Betty was so proud of her family and she loved each one of them dearly.
Betty was blessed to live with her daughter and son-in-law for 4 years, where she was able to have daily interactions while being cared for and loved.

The family would like to personally thank Pamela Durley for the love, support and care that you provided to Betty. You were a daily blessing who we adored from the moment you came into our lives! Thank you, Pam, for your commitment to Miss Betty and Ann.

To Arkansas Hospice, thank you so much for the compassionate care that you extended to Betty and her family during her final days.

In lieu of flowers, donation can be made to First United Methodist Church of NLR or your favorite charity in Betty's name.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 30th at 12:00 PM with a service following at 12:45 PM at Roller-Owens Funeral Home in North Little Rock. Interment to follow at Edgewood Memorial Cemetery in North Little Rock.
