Missy A. Bates, 55, of Subiaco, Arkansas passed away on Monday, December 11, 2023 in Fayetteville, Arkansas. She was born on June 13, 1968 in Russellville, Arkansas to her parents, Ernest and Betty (Anhalt) Mertin.
Missy held her doctorate in pharmacy and worked at Vaughn Prescriptions in Fort Smith. She loved all animals, especially her dogs, Pebbles and Boo-boo.
She is preceded in death by her father, Ernest Mertin.
She is survived by her husband, Shawn Bates of Subiaco; her mother, Betty Mertin of Midway; one daughter, Taylor Mertin of Springdale; one step-daughter, Makayla Bates of Fayetteville; three step-sons, Devin Bates of Fort Smith, Isiah Bates of Fayetteville and Braydon Bates of Conway; one brother, Mike Mertin and wife, April of Scranton; one nephew, Phoenix Mertin of Scranton and four step-grandchildren, Nora, Abigail, Mia and Isaac.
A memorial visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m., on Wednesday, December 20, 2023 at Roller Funeral Home Chapel in Paris. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Roller Funeral Home.

My sincerest condolences. Missy was truly loved by so many. I am blessed with the fondest memories of her. She was always so good to me and my family. And good to anyone who needed her help. She was quiet but had a huge heart and never tried to take credit for all the wonderful things she did for others. I loved Missy so very much and have a hole in my heart. She will be greatly missed.
