Robert "Bob" Louis Snyder, Sr., 95, sailed his last voyage to our Lord and Savior on November 10, 2023. He was born to Isaac and Martha Snyder on March 17, 1928.
He married Betty "Bib" Laxson on May 16, 1953 in Yuma, Arizona. They were married for almost fifty-eight years before Mrs. Snyder's passing in March of 2011. Mr. Snyder married Winnie Snyder on July 28, 2013. They moved from the Helena area to Drasco to be closer to family.
Bob tried to join the US Navy when he was 15, but was too young. Determined, he gave a fictitious birth date and joined in April 1944 when he was 16. He served on several ships and was stationed in several states and countries with his wife and two children. He served for twenty-two years and retired as a Boatswain's Mate, First Class. Mr. Snyder then began a twenty year career with the United States Postal Service, where he was a letter carrier.
Bob enjoyed various hobbies and was a lifelong music lover. His favorite activity was playing his guitar, whether it be with a group or on his own. He was a devout member and Music Director of Harmony Baptist Church in Helena, before attending Higden Church of Christ when he moved to Drasco.
Mr. Snyder leaves behind his second wife; a daughter, Angela Snyder (Mitch) of Searcy, Arkansas; a son, Robert "Duke" L. Snyder, Jr. of Houston, Texas; four grandchildren, Christopher Bodiford (Carrie) of Sheridan, Arkansas, Melissa Meyer of Searcy, Arkansas, Brian Rogers (Dana) of Hot Springs, Arkansas, and Nicole "Nikki" Hardesty (Matt) of Searcy, Arkansas; seven great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild; one Step-Daughter, Teresa Barbee (Larry) of Drasco, Arkansas; two Step-Grandchildren, Mandy Lumpkin (Chad) of Drasco, Arkansas, Wesley Barbee (Jamie) of Heber Springs, Arkansas, and four Step Great-Grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be: Chris Bodiford, Matt Hardesty, Jozef James, Larry Barbee, Dean Barbee, and Terry Middleton.
Visitation for Mr. Snyder will be held Thursday, November 16, 2023 at 10 a.m. at Roller Citizens in Helena. A graveside service will be held following visitation at Sunset Memorial Park in West Helena. Mr. Snyder's grandson, Chris Bodiford will officiate.

So sorry to hear of the passing of Mr.Synder. I had met him but went to church with his second wife Winnie. I pray for Winnie and the family. Please remember your favorite memories. They will see you through the sad times.

We are so sorry to hear of the loss of Bob. We went to church with him, when he lived in West Helena and we went to Harmony Baptist.
He was always very kind to us and I know he will be missed.

Uncle Bob was such a nice man. When I was a young child, Uncle Bob played his guitar in a very professional manner and I enjoyed listening to his music.
