In life, there are many threads that weave the tale of a soul. Some are vibrant and shimmering; others are hidden and unnoticed. Such was the soul of our beautiful grandmother, whose depth and beauty were overlooked by many who failed to see beyond the veil of neurodivergence.

But she would have wanted everyone to know - she loved to laugh.

To those fortunate enough to have truly known her, her laughter was the sound of pure joy, a reflection of a heart full of love and warmth.

And oh, how we loved making her laugh.

If there was a measure to her love, it was in the unwavering affection she had for her son and her two granddaughters.

She was the embodiment of unconditional love, a guiding star that never dimmed. Through every odd dream we pursued, every eccentric adventure, she stood by us as our loudest cheerleader.

The photos capturing her life are numerous - each a snapshot of a life lived to its fullest. If you were to sort through them, you would see a world painted in the colors of joy, resilience and love. You would see her in her Tae Kwon Do uniform, or at the senior Olympics participating in discus throw, horseshoes and shot put, or proudly sitting on top of a motorcycle. She lived a life that was as wild as she was and we are so lucky to have been a part of it.

To those who did not truly know her, look for her in every act of kindness, every ounce of good and compassion that exists in her son and her two grandbabies. There is a reflection of love so profound that it is etched into our very beings.

Now, for us, a line divides time - there is a before and there is an after. The weight of her absence will be felt so deeply that, in many moments, it will take our breath away.

As the curtains of this world close on her chapter, we hope, with every fiber of our being, that if there exists a realm beyond this one, she has found her peace there.

Because she very much deserves more than this world ever gave her.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Cecil Mifflin and Anna Mae Mifflin (Crosno) and brothers, James Thompson and Dennis Mifflin. She is survived by her brother, Dale Mifflin; her son and his wife, Craig and Christie Byrd; her two granddaughters, Sandy and Ashley Byrd; bonus granddaughters, Allie and Haylie; two great-grandchildren, Julien and Alyric and many nephews, nieces and friends. It cannot be understated how many of the above family members came together in her final days to take care of and spoil her, including Christie Byrd, Haylie Mason, Greyson West, Dakota Byrd and Caring Hands Hospice. Our profound thanks to everyone who was a part of her life.

There will be a graveside service held on Saturday, October 7th at 1 pm at Maxville Cemetery in Cave City. If you plan to attend, please wear something red if you have it. Red was her favorite color. In lieu of flowers, Glenda asked for people to make a donation to either the Independence County Humane Society or to a charity of their choice.
