Barbara Lee Murray, 94, of Jonesboro passed away on September 17, 2023 at the Flo and Phil Hospice House. She was born September 13, 1929 to Jack Hurst and Cora (Casper) Hurst Campbell. She was a member of Herman Missionary Baptist Church where she was a Sunday School and VBS teacher. Mrs. Murray was a life member of DAV Auxiliary and a member of the Herman Home Demonstration Club. She was a skilled quilter and a member of the Bono PTA.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her stepfather, S.J Campbell; her loving husband of 53 years, James Walter Murray; a daughter, Joan Gould; brothers J.B. Hurst and Eugene Hurst and a sister, Frieda June Hurst.
Those left to cherish her memories are son, Walter Eugene Murray of Washington; daughter, Jeanette Clayton and her husband, Bobby; son-in-law, Melvin Gould, daughter, June Goodman and her husband, David of South Carolina; grandchildren, Sean Gould and his wife, Kara, Brian Clayton and his wife, Gretchen, Jared Clayton and his wife, Christi, Jonathan Goodman and his wife, Jessica of Maryland and Lindsey Hooks and her husband, Matt; great-grandchildren, Kyle Gould and his fiance, Mika, Cooper Clayton, Andrea Clayton and Jameson Clayton, Penelope Goodman, Hayes Hooks and Reed Hooks and a longtime caregiver, Kris Coggin.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Thursday, September 21, 2023 at Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home Chapel, 1900 West Washington Avenue, Jonesboro, AR 72491. Lonnie Warren and Randy Stimach will officiate. Burial will follow in Nettleton Cemetery.
Visitation will precede services at 1:00 PM.
Honored to serve as pallbearers are Sean Gould, Brian Clayton, Jared Clayton, Matt Hooks, Kyle Gould and Cooper Clayton. Honorary pallbearers are Jameson Clayton, Hayes Hooks and Reed Hooks.
