Helen Louise Martin Faulkner

of Helena, AR

August 31, 1930 - August 21, 2023

Helen Louise Martin Faulkner passed away Monday, August 21, 2023 at age 92. She was born August 31, 1930 in Little Rock, Arkansas to Floyd Moore Martin and Jewel Nuckolls Martin.

After graduating from Little Rock Senior High School (now Little Rock Central High School) in 1948, Helen attended Little Rock Junior College (now University of Arkansas at Little Rock). It was during her college years that she met the love of her life, Henry Newton "H.N." Faulkner of Helena, Arkansas. The two met on a blind date in 1949 while H.N. was attending medical school at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. They wed on June 10, 1951 in Little Rock, eventually settling in Helena in 1953.

In 1957, Helen and H.N. bought a house in Helena's Waverly Woods neighborhood, which turned out to be their forever home. The Faulkners also became longtime members of Helena Country Club and First Presbyterian Church.

Helen is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Dr. H.N. Faulkner; her younger sister, Mildred Elaine Martin Jones and her eldest son, Robert Newton "Bob" Faulkner. She is survived by her two sons, William Moore "Bill" Faulkner and Martin Bullard "Marty" Faulkner; her daughter-in-law, Laurie Svendson Faulkner; her granddaughter, Kiley Nelson Faulkner; her niece, Helen Kay Jones McDoniel and her goddaughter, Blanche Lambert Lincoln.

The family would like to thank Helen's caregivers, Loyce Corbitt, Billie Jo Bear and Sheila Davidson and her loyal Helena friends.

There will be a memorial service on Tuesday, September 26, at 2 p.m. in the Chapel at Roller-Citizens Funeral Home (508 Plaza Avenue, West Helena, Arkansas 72390). In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or the Maple Hill Cemetery Endowment (302 Cherry Street #404, Helena, Arkansas 72342).

Bill, Marty, and the entire family. I went to school with Bobby. Your mom was a strong, caring, loving woman who had a beautiful family and a good life. Now she is home with your dad and Bobby until she sees the rest of you again. I pray that you will all feel Gods loving arms around you in the days ahead and that you will remember all the love she had for each of you.
