Alice Maedean Byrd, 84, of Searcy, Arkansas passed away early in the morning on August 18, 2023 with her family at her side. She was born in Kensett, Arkansas on October 15, 1938 to the Late Coy Vernon and Clara Althy Kidd Clowers.

Alice is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ralph H. Byrd, JR; two brothers, Vernon Allen and Chester Lee Clowers and one sister, Debra Kussler and one son, Coy Logan Swan. Left to cherish her memory are her five children, Randi and Gloria Swan, Richard and Penny Bullock, Ecil ''Sonny'' Swan and Marita and Ronald Mehrtens; seventeen grandchildren, Emily, CJ, Chandler and Talor ''Jo Jo'' Swan, Nicholas, Michael, Tony and Dustin Bullock, Nicole Reid, Nikki Cameron, Shandin (Nicholas) Connelly, Ricky Couch, Tenaya, AJ, Laryssa, Danika and Michael Moffitt; several great and great great -grandchildren; one brother, George Edward Clowers; one sister, Kathy (Mike) Martin; nieces and nephew, Sherry Waire, Alice Clause and Gary Glenn Clause; along with other extended family members and friends.

Alice was known for her loving and caring heart as she cared for others in her own home. This led her and her husband, Ralph to opening several nursing homes in the area, with the last two being Lakeland Lodge Nursing Home in Heber Springs along with Byrd Haven Nursing Home in Searcy.

She was instrumental in helping to establish Hope Lutheran Church in Searcy. She was an active member of the VFW Auxiliary and a thrift shopper.

The most important thing to her was her family and her home. She loved working in her yard and garden and was known for the awards she received for her flowers. She loved spending time with her family and they were proud of her accomplishments with her flowers and in her Nursing Homes.

A Memorial Service is set for Saturday, August 26, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Roller-Daniel Funeral Home Chapel in Searcy.
