Vernon Ernest Beene Jr., 69, of Hughes, Ar., passed away on July 20, 2023.
He was born on November 20, 1953, in Memphis, TN., to Mr. Vernon Ernest ''Tootsie'' Beene Sr. and Mrs. Jimmie D. Beene.
Ernie loved his animals, including his dogs and horses, giving them great care over the years.
Survivors include two nieces, Jennifer Williams, and Dee Ann Jones; aunt, Mary Grace West; and a host of extended family.

I have known Ernie since we were teenagers. I always respected him for being his own man and living life his way. He and I worked together several seasons running combines for Norsworthy Partnership. He was very knowledgeable about equipment and a good mechanic . He would say if you are going to repair something do it right the first time. I have a lot of good memories of Ernie.

I am so sorry to hear that Ernie has passed away. I always visited with him at the Hughes Drive Inn when I saw him there. We were some of the few people still left in Hughes since the 50’s. I haven’t seen him in a while since we moved to Oxford. Our families have been good friends for many years. Prayers and comfort for his surviving family.
