of West Memphis, AR
July 16, 1936 - July 24, 2023
Doris Ruth Johns (nee Macfarlane), 87, of West Memphis departed this life on July 24, 2023. She was born on July 16, 1936 in Union, New Jersey to Mr. Thomas Edward Macfarlane and Mrs. Elsie Irene Macfarlane. Doris was a devoted member of the First United Methodist Church and actively participated in the United Women in Faith. Throughout her career, she served as an International Service Agent at Emery Air Freight until her well-earned retirement. Despite facing declining health over the past several years, Doris bravely persevered and few people truly knew the extent of her struggles. Her joy for life and indomitable spirit remained unwavering and she was always ready to greet others with a welcoming smile and a warm heart. Her greatest pleasures were found in spending time with her beloved family and friends, sewing and pets. Doris leaves behind two surviving daughters, Doreen Wray (Ted) and Darrylee Arms. Many of their friends considered her a surrogate mother due to her friendly and caring nature. Additionally, she is survived by four grandchildren, Clayton Arms, Clark Wray (Lacie Wray), Callie Arms and Chris Wray. These grandchildren were the joy of her life and she cherished every moment spent with them, especially during pool time at Grammy's. Doris was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil O. Johns Jr.; as well as her parents and her sister, Elsie Knehr. In loving memory of Doris Ruth Johns, a remarkable woman who touched the lives of many and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
I had the great pleasure of living beside Cecil and Doris back in the 90’s and could not have asked for better, kind neighbors. RIP Doris 😇
