Ollie Mae Lorton

of Searcy, AR

March 9, 1935 - July 7, 2023

Ollie Mae Lorton, 88, of Searcy, Arkansas went to her heavenly home on July 7, 2023. She was born at Wheatley, Arkansas on March 9, 1935 to the late Howard Miller, Sr. and Opal (Roberts) Miller.
Ollie was a very active member of the Searcy First Assembly of God for fifty years, in which she dedicated her time working with the Women's Ministries. Within this group, Ollie was involved in coordinating meals for funerals and quilting quilts, some of which were sent to the Indian Reservations in Arizona. The baby blankets that were sewn by this group were given to families when the babies were dedicated at the church. She was a very friendly person. When someone new came to church Ollie would greet them, introduce herself and find out where they were from and make them feel welcome.
Her family was very precious to her and she cared for them as a mother would. When her grandchildren and great grandchild came along, she shared that same love with them. She loved to camp with her sons growing up, loved to teach the children in Sunday School, loved to bake and cook (her specialties were strawberry pies and banana nut bread).
Ollie retired from Walmart several years ago and people at Walmart still remember her. Ollie was a friend to all who needed her and will be greatly missed.
Ollie is preceded in death by her parents; a son, Phillip Dale Lorton and a brother, J.D. Miller.
Left to cherish her memory is her husband of 65 years Vernon Lorton; two sons, David Lorton (Lisa) and Mike Lorton; five grandchildren, Callie Huffstutler (Garett), Josh Lorton (Brittany), Kathryn Gosha (Nathan), Matthew Lorton and Mason Lorton; one great grandchild, Lane Huffstutler; one brother, Howard Miller, JR (Barbara); one sister, Joyce Hopgood (Johnny) and a host of other family members and friends.
A visitation will be held 2:00PM Tuesday, July 11, 2023 at Searcy First Assembly of God with Funeral Services to follow at 3:00PM. There will be a private entombment following the service. All services are under the direction of Roller-Daniel Funeral Home.

Ollie was a pleasure to work with. We had some laughs in the jewelry department together. When I met her I was just a young teenager. She loved me like her own and taught me a lot. My thoughts and prayers to everyone who loved and knew her.

Oh how I loved her! She was the lady in Missionettes who helped me ask Jesus into my heart 11 years old !!!!! She had 3 sons but the missionettes were her girls! Always precious and loving! Later I would see her in the grocery in Searcy grown and she would ask about my children and my mother Truly a Godly woman!!

Vernon, David, Mike, Joyce and all the family:

I am saddened to hear of Ollie's passing but knowing she is resting in peace with the Lord is comforting. Ollie was a sweet person who would do anything in the world for people. May God comfort each one of you knowing she is in a better place.

Love,
