Billy Mitchell Keeter

of Cotter, AR

March 10, 1953 - June 11, 2023

Billy Mitchell Keeter, 70, of Cotter, Arkansas passed away Sunday, June 11, 2023.

Billy was born in Gassville, Arkansas March 10, 1953 to Bill G and Fannie Mae Keeter. Billy was the youngest of three boys; brothers, Kerry, Ricky and Billy.

From a young age, Billy loved being outdoors and getting his hands dirty. He had a love for all things that involved beautiful landscapes. With his family, he was known for building beautiful projects around landscaping. He was an avid sports fan and grew up playing basketball, where he passed the love of the game down to his children. He loved watching his children and grandchildren play various sports in the community and would attend every game he could. He also enjoyed playing travel ragball in his younger years.

He was a reserved man who valued genuine people and would give the shirt off his back to help someone. He gave his heart to Jesus at a young age and rededicated his life to the Lord in recent years and was a member of First Baptist Church in Yellville. He had a soft spot for animals and loved his dog, Ozzie. With his family he was always making jokes and loved to pester the grandchildren, but was one of their biggest fans. He loved with his whole heart and his family was his world. His family describes him as humble, kind, witty, hard working and loved.

Billy is survived by his beautiful wife, Debra Keeter. While attending college in Beebe, Arkansas, Billy came home one weekend and met his beautiful bride to be. Billy and Debra just celebrated 48 years of marriage.

Billy is also survived by his two children; son, Dustin Keeter and wife, Holly Keeter of Bentonville, Arkansas; daughter, Alisha Benedict and husband, Kyle Benedict of Flippin Arkansas; six grandchildren, Maelee Sasser and husband, Caleb Sasser, Marcee Benedict, Olivia Keeter, Madelyn Keeter, Karson Benedict and Hollin Keeter; great grand-daughter, Lilah Mae Elaine Sasser; brothers, Kerry (Louise) Keeter of Bergman, Arkansas and Ricky (Kay) Keeter of Yellville, Arkansas

He was preceded in death by his parents, Bill G. and Fannie Mae Keeter.

Billy lives on in the hearts and minds of his loving family and friends.

Visitation will be 1:00 to 2:00 pm Thursday, June 15th at First Baptist Church Yellville.

Funeral service will follow immediately at 2:00 pm at First Baptist Church in Yellville with Bro. Rick Pyron officiating.

Interment will follow at Georges Creek Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Kyle Benedict, Caleb Sasser, Jason Davenport, Cody Methvin, Bryan Benedict and Shannon Schroder.

Honorary pallbearers will be his nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made to Georges Creek Cemetery Fund, c/o Nancy Bergeron, 2261 MC 4005, Yellville, AR 72687.

My heart hurts for your family. Billy's parents and my parents were very good friends and Billy was a year younger almost to the day then me. Remember the times spent in our younger years. I hadn't seen Billy in many years and never knew him as an father and grandfather but I am sure he was one of the good ones because I later became acquainted with his daughter. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you today and the days ahead.

Our days together in school classes and activities at Yellville-Summit High School have allowed for good memories over the years. May the Lord bring comfort to Billy’s wife and family. “Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your Rod and your staff, they comfort me.” Psalm 23:4

Debbie and kids, I am thinking about your family and sending you big hugs. Billy came and helped me with my yard after I lost Donnie. I guess we talked more on those times than we ever had before. I know the feelings of grief you experience after losing your husband and Dad suddenly. I lost Donnie 20 years ago, six weeks after losing Mom. I will be praying that you can feel the love of the Keeter family and the presence of God's arms.
