James Goodbar (JG) of Bartlett, Tennessee passed away peacefully on May 17, 2023 at Baptist Memorial Hospital after a brief battle with cancer. He was born May 1, 1948 in Earle, Arkansas to parents Clarence and Iona Abbott Goodbar.
James was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Harry Goodbar and Joe Goodbar and one sister, Joyce Spears.
He is survived by his loving wife, Susan Goodbar; daughters, Jamie Reuter (Brian) of Cherokee Village, Arkansas, Emily Queen (Chris) and Sarah Taylor both of Bartlett. He also leaves a brother, Clyde Goodbar (Rebecca) of El Paso, Texas; brothers-in-law, Timothy Deese of Franklin, Tennessee and Mark Steele of West Memphis, Arkansas.
The legacies of his life are his 6 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild, Zoe Gale, Collin Reuter, Maxwell Reuter, Benjamin Smith, Annabelle Queen, Lucy Queen and Delilah Forehand.
James was an avid gardener and could be found cheering on the Razorbacks at every opportunity.

A celebration of life service will be take place on Saturday, May 20, 2023 at 3:00 pm in the Chapel of Roller Citizens Funeral Home, 201 N. Pine St., West Memphis, Arkansas.

My sweet little brother has died. James was a vallient warrior, but he couldn't fight the silent killers. The oncologist told my sister (Joyce) she was just unlucky to have cancer.
James & I talked every day about everything and anything. I talked with him on Monday (5-15-2023) and i felt so sad because i thiught it might be the last time I'd hear his voice and it was.
Im the last (and oldest) in our immeduate family. I'll sorely miss James and will never get over his passing.
James was so lucky so have Susan. She took care of him so well with unquinching dedication. I can never thank Susan enough.
Our immediate family has lasted 113 years and will cease when i die.
James can now rest in peace until we meet again

Have known Goodbar for a long time, all the way back to our school days. He was what you call, A Good Guy. So sorry to hear about his passing. My thoughts and prayers for his family. May God be with you all and give you strength in this time of sadness.

Sad to hear of this. I’ve known James since the early ‘70’s. My thoughts and prayers are with the family. I encourage you to look at John 5:28,29, this speaks of a hope to come.

So sorry about our good friend James there were so many good times James was the best Horeshoe thrower on this side of the river , i never could beat him but i think he would let me get close every now and then . Rest in peace my old friend praying for comfo.rt to family during this time
