Ruby (Wooten) McElroy, 89, of Paris passed away May 16, 2023 in Charleston, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born April 8, 1934 in Paris to her parents, James Ruben Wooten and Mary Esther (McCubbin) Wooten. She was a member of Bethel Missionary Baptist Church and a homemaker. Ruby enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and jigsaw puzzles. She loved to crochet, making potholders, dish towels and afghans. Friday nights were set aside for playing dominoes and eating catfish. She was known throughout for her homemade cooking. Everyone loved her biscuits and gravy, custard pies and salmon patties.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of forty-four years, Andy McElroy; six sisters, Lula Crowell, Dolly West, Catherine Sing, Nova Jean West, Lois Jester and Mary Wooten and four brothers, Otho Wooten, Virgil Wooten, Harley Wooten and Ardeth Wooten.
She is survived by her daughter, Denise Brandenburg of Hackett, Arkansas; a son, Keith McElroy of Alma, Arkansas; six grandchildren, Joslyn Giles, Scarlett Franks, Gentry Brandenburg, Jericho McElroy, Skyler McElroy and Mackenzie Booker; ten great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren; other family members and friends.
Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Friday, May 19, 2023 at Roller Funeral Home in Paris.
Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 20, 2023 at Bethel Missionary Baptist Church in Paris officiated by Bro. Ben Fisher and Bro. Jeremy Jones. Burial will follow in Caulksville Cemetery.
Funeral service and arrangements are under the direction of Roller Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Jericho McElroy, Skyler McElroy, Kenneth McElroy, Troy McElroy, Rodney Sing, Perry Sing, Johnny Law and Billy McElroy.
Honorary Pallbearers will be her Granddaughters and Nephews.
