Margie Mooney Varner passed away May 9, 2023 at her home in Marion, Arkansas. She was born in Wilson, Arkansas on October 13, 1928 to Elijah and Winnie Guin.
She was preceded in death by her parents; five children, Robert Earl Mooney, Cheryl Lynn Mooney, Donnie Mooney, Joseph Lee Mooney and Kenneth Mooney; two brothers; five sisters and two husbands, Earl Mooney and George Varner.
She is survived by her son, James Arlen Mooney of Shearerville, Arkansas; two daughters, Penny Mooney Morris (James) of Bartlett, Tennessee and Sheila Mooney Riley (Stephen) of Marion, Arkansas; one sister, Betty Barkley; sixteen grandchildren and a plethora of great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
She is most remembered for her love for her large family and her church, The Hughes Church of God. She communicated her love of family and friends in many ways including sharing rewards from her vegetable and flower gardens, or a dish from her kitchen as she was an outstanding cook and last but not least her wonderful gift of writing notes that lifted the spirit of those in need. Her family fondly remembers the fun of playing many games of cards.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, May 13, 2023 at 11:00 A.M. at Roller-Citizens Funeral Home, 201 N. Pine St. in West Memphis, Arkansas followed by the funeral service at 12 Noon. The interment will take place following the service at Marianna Memorial Cemetery in Marianna, Arkansas.
