of Marion, AR
January 23, 1947 - April 27, 2023
Cliff Southern, 76, departed this life on April 27, 2023 at his residence in Marion, Arkansas.
Cliff was born January 23, 1947 in Manila, Arkansas to Earvin and Inez Southern. He is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Wanda Moye and his son, Shannon Southern.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 57 years, Pam; his children, Chad Southern (Brigitte) and Michelle McDaniel (Lance) of Marion; his sister, Glenda Ford (Teddy) of Harrisburg, Arkansas; his grandchildren, Skyla Burton (Sam) of West Memphis, Emily Martinez of West Memphis, Cody Doyle (Brinkley) of Weiner, Madison McDaniel (Seth) of Marion, Casey Southern, Landry Southern and Brennan McDaniel; his great grandchildren, Olivia, Brookley, Jackson, River, Samuel, Weston, Legend, Everleigh and Dax.
Cliff's wife, Pam, his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren were his pride and joy. He was so proud of each and every one of them and prayed daily for them, calling them out by name to his Savior. Cliff's biggest hero was his father, Earvin Southern. His father helped mold him into the great man he became. Church played a significant role in Cliff's life. He was a member of Angels Way Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon. Cliff had a true servant's heart and a genuine love for others, always willing to help and encourage his church family.
In 1987, after several years working in the parts business, Cliff bought what is now Cliff's Auto Parts. Throughout the last 36 years, Cliff's has become a vital part of the community, providing parts and supplies for all. Cliff always said ''If we don't have it, we can get it!'' His customers were his friends and he was known for his generosity and integrity. Cliff took pride in serving Marion and the surrounding communities.
Cliff always began his mornings in his study preparing for his day by reading the word of God and praying. Then it was breakfast in town with his buddies. When not working, Cliff enjoyed spending time outside. According to his grandchildren, he also enjoyed hanging out with and talking to his dog and cat. Cliff loved hunting and found serenity at his cabin in the hills. Watching the wildlife in the mornings from his front porch rocking chair was a true gift. He also enjoyed watching old westerns starring "The Duke".
Cliff loved to sing. He'd be the first to say he was not the greatest singer but you could sure feel God's presence in his voice every time he sang a special at church. Everyone knew it was genuine and came from his heart.
Cliff found that the most important thing in this world was spending time with his Savior. He understood that everything else in life would fall into place if he allowed Jesus to be the Lord of his entire life and by surrendering everything to Him. By doing so, he became a living example to his family, friends, customers and community.
His family requests that memorials be sent to Angels Way Baptist Church Youth Ministry, Post Office Box 1340, Marion, Arkansas 72364.
Visitation for Cliff will be held on Monday, May 1, 2023 at Angel's Way Baptist Church beginning at 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, May 2, 2023 at the church also and will begin at 10:00 AM. Burial will take place afterwards at Crittenden Memorial Park in Marion, Arkansas.
Pam and family. I am so sorry for your loss. Cliff was a friend of my dad Grady Gregory, Telling him of the love of Jesus. When Dad excepted Christ as his saviour he asked Cliff to come to his baptism. Of course he and family did. He also witnessed to my husband Bud. They had worked together years ago. Praise God Bud did Except Christ also. Family you can see why I think so highly of Cliff. I want to say So sorry I as unable to Be at the funeral,as my daughter Beth had just passed away. Have been praying for your family. I had seen Cliff about a week before at a local restaurant, Me being an old lady of 84 y/r he gives me a quick hug and said GIRL how are you doing. Keeping family in my prayers.
I was shocked and saddened to learn of Cliff's passing. I had visited with him the day before. The world is a better place because of the life Cliff led and the influence he had on the people with whom he had business dealings or those he counseled. He was always very helpful to my daughter Dorothy when she would come in and say "I need this whatchama call it." His son Chad has some Godly shoes to fill, but I think he's more than capable.

25 years of pleasant interactions, always a pleasure to deal with Cliff, and by extension, his associates. A jumble of archaic words come instantly to mind. Courteous, Pleasant, kind. competent, knowledgeable, all qualities that lived strong with Cliff. I, certainly, but more so, this part of the world is a better place for having known him.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the family.

As someone who has had the honor of working beside Cliff Southern as my neighbor for over 40 years at Marion Shopping Center, I can that his steadfast friendship not only enriched my life, but also enriched the lives of the many people he served in the many communities. He was a fine Christian man who strove to walk in the words and teaching of his savior Jesus Christ, and he will be dearly missed. He brought laughter to sometimes long work days, and helped me throughout my life more times than I could possibly recount! I find grace in the knowledge that his legacy will thrive in the lives of his beautiful family and children. Please know I will keep you all in my thoughts and prayers during this most difficult time.
Cliff was one heck of a nice guy and ran one of the best businesses around. They don't make them like him anymore and I am sorry for his family's loss. God broke the mold when they made him. He is one of the last of a great generation of men and he will be missed by everyone.
