Ruth Maedean Blake, 99, of Conway, Arkansas went to be with her Lord and Savior April 22, 2023. She was born November 23, 1923 in Romance, Arkansas to Michael and Mary (Sublett) Baker. Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, James Jesse Baker; her sister, Hattie Baker; her husband, Wayman Blake; sons, Steven (Stevie) Wayne Blake and James Michael (Mike) Blake.
Ruth is survived by her children, Wayman Blake Jr. (wife, Virginia Blake); daughter, Regina Pryor (husband, Bill Pryor); daughter, Penny McClung (husband, Kim McClung); son, James Blake and four beloved grandsons, Blake, Stephen, Logan and Matthew Pryor.
Ruth's life centered around her faith, her church and her family. During World War II, Ruth worked in the ordnance plant in Jacksonville, Arkansas before she married Wayman Blake. They had six children. Ruth loved being a homemaker and caring for her family. You could often hear her singing as she worked around the house, tending her garden, picking berries or preparing home-cooked meals. Ruth enjoyed gospel music and hymns, gardening, reading mysteries and watching the occasional Razorback basketball game. Ruth made a welcoming environment in her home that often included the additions of family members and friends. There was no limit to her kind, motherly love for others.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, April 26, 2023 at 2:00pm at Barney Missionary Baptist Church in the Barney Community, just North of Enola, Arkansas. Visitation will be at 1:00pm, one hour prior to the service. Burial to follow in Mt. Vernon Cemetery, Mt. Vernon, Arkansas.

Some of my fondest childhood memories were spending time up at aunt Ruth's.
