Charles Edward Wallis

of Conway, AR

January 2, 1938 - April 11, 2023

Charles Edward Wallis was a caring and loyal father, Paw Paw, brother, and friend. He left this world peacefully on Tuesday, April 11, 2023, at the age of 85, surrounded by his family. He leaves behind one brother, Harold Wallis of Sparta, Missouri, and two daughters, Cheryl Davis with husband, Brett, Karen Todd with husband, Dr. Charles Todd, O.D. He loved his three grandchildren, Alex Davis, with wife, Casey, Sarah Todd, and David Todd. He was able to hold and love his only great-grandson, Augustus Davis.

He was born in Tupelo, Arkansas, on January 2, 1938, to Victor and Mildred Wallis. He played the game he loved, football, and graduated from Laura Conner High School in Augusta, Arkanasas in 1957. This is where his love for books was found. He had read all the books in the library at school, so he was allowed to go across the street to the city library to check out more books. He enjoyed his time reading and was thankful for the Faulkner County Library System in Conway and Mayflower. He is preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Wavely, Dub, Lyvonne, Kenneth, and Dempsey Wayne.

Charlie, as most people called him, loved the outdoors. He was an avid hunter and enjoyed riding 4-wheelers as a younger man. Charlie loved living by and being on the lake. As a long-time resident of Mountain Home, he spent many hours on Lake Norfolk with his family and friends. He moved to Conway in 2004 and took up residence on Lake Conway. He enjoyed being able to walk out his back door and go fishing anytime he wanted. His backyard always had a garden with plenty of tomatoes, peppers, squash, and beans to share with his neighbors and family. He looked forward to his daily walk with his best friend, Tom Vestal, and loved his loyal dog, Molly. A dog was never found that didn't like Charlie and vice versa.

A celebration of his life with friends and family will take place on July 2, 2023, in Conway. You can also remember him by doing a kindness daily, albeit human or canine.

To the family & friends of Charlie Wallis:
I have many fond memories of Charlie from 1960 when he & my sister, Mary, started dating. I gave him the nick name "Wildroot" after hair oil that was popular on TV commercials with "Charlie" being star ladies man!
I saw how he couldn't or didn't run as fast as Mary & she lassoed & got him!
Charlie proved to be a very caring & conscientious father, the way he even made presents for children that he crafted himself.
He even won over the heart of his mother-in-law!....and being her only son & survivor what more need I say
