Erma Jean Hazel, age 91, passed from this life peacefully at Superior Health & Rehab in Conway, Arkansas on Tuesday, April 18, 2023. Erma was born on January 6, 1932 to John F. Paul and Beulah Duncan Paul. Many thanks to the wonderful staff of Superior, who did an exceptional job of providing care in her final days.
Erma married C.H. (Sodie) Hazel on July 28, 1948 and they were married for an astonishing 69 plus years. Erma and Sodie had two daughters, Suzanne Scroggins, married to Charles and Brenda Mathis, married to Tom.
Erma was a loving wife, mother, nanny, great-grandmother and great-great grandmother. Erma spent her entire life devoted to her family and her God. Erma faithfully attended Liberty Church of Christ, where she was a member for many years.
Erma will be greatly missed by all the loved ones left behind. She is preceded in death by her husband, Sodie; grandson, Gary Don Day; brothers, Bud and Sonny Paul and sisters, Dorothy Paul, Marvell Martin and Laverne Goss. Two sisters remain, FayDean Lawerence and Sylvia Wells.
Graveside services will be held at 10am Friday, April 21, 2023 at Crestlawn Memorial Park.
To say final earthly goodbyes, Erma will be lying in state at Roller-McNutt Funeral Home in Conway, Thursday from 8am to 9pm.
