Charlotte Pennington Brooks, 97, of Earle, Arkansas, passed away on Friday, April 14, 2023, at home.
Mrs. Brooks was a member of Earle Baptist Church. She served on the Benevolence Home Outreach and the Kitchen Committees for several years. Her pride and joy was setting up a new bus fund for church. She also served on the Rebuilding Committee, following the May 2008 tornado that came through Earle.
She served as President of the Earle Country Garden Club for 8 years, and was appointed to the Crittenden County Library Board, on which she served 22 years.
Charlotte Pennington Brooks was born January 28th, in Crossett, Arkansas, to Junius and Ruth Pennington. She graduated from Crossett High School in 1944, and moved to Helena, Arkansas, where she met her husband, James Brooks. They were married February 14, 1952, and lived in Crawfordsville, Arkansas, for 17 years where they raised their daughter, Cathy, and son, Vernon. They later relocated to Earle, Arkansas, where they retired.
Charlotte was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Jim, and her 5 brothers: John, Willie-Van, Frank, Coy-Ed, and Clyde, and her only sister, Barbara.
She is survived by her daughter, Cathy Brooks and her son, Vernon Brooks and wife, Judy; granddaughter Amy; and 3 great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Earle Baptist Church or a charity of your choice.
She was always so nice when I saw here . She and her Husband were such a great asset for Earle.

Prayers are with the family of Mrs Brooks. I was a privilege to know Mr and Mrs Brooks. Mrs Brooks always showed a caring others.
Prayers for Cathy, Vernon, family and friends. Ms. Brooks was our neighbor for the past seventeen years. I also had the blessing of caring for her sometimes. I know she has found a television in heaven and is watching The Andy Griffith Show!!! Rest peacefully, Beautiful! Much love!

It was our pleasure and an honor to have known your precious mother for some thirty years. She was such a strong lady who was unfailingly loving and kind. This world was certainly a better place because she was in it.
