of Conway, AR
April 18, 1924 - April 15, 2023
Emma Adaline Townsley, age 98, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Saturday, April 15, 2023 at Conway Regional Hospital. Emma was born on April 18, 1924 to Michael Rutledge Stracner and Annabelle Greer Stracner. Emma's mother unfortunately passed away early in her life, so she and her brothers and sisters were raised by her father. Emma, being the oldest daughter, took on the responsibility of helping her father in caring for her other siblings, who she loved dearly.
Emma married Chester Townsley on March 17, 1942 and had two children, Judy Ann and Bobby Loyd.
Emma was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great-great grandmother who devoted herself to her family and the people around her. Many who knew Emma knew her as "Nanny." Her family was her whole life and she loved them all so very much. She will be remembered by her sweet, selfless and caring nature. "Nanny" was an amazing cook and spent many hours in the kitchen cooking for her family.
Emma was a long-time member of Second Baptist Church in Conway, Arkansas. She remained a faithful Christian for her entire life and left an amazing legacy for her family and friends to continue.
Emma will be greatly missed by her daughter, Judy (William) Martin; 2 grandkids, Glen (Cyerice) Martin, Anita (Travis) Chance; four great grandchildren, Cody Martin, Kristen (Clint) Chronister, Colt (Katie) Chance and Ethan Chance; 3 great great-grandchildren Landree, Grant Chronister and Mason Martin, along with many nieces, nephews and friends who adore her with all of their hearts.
Emma is preceded in death by her husband, Chester Loyd Townsley; Son, Bobby Loyd Townsley; her parents; brothers and sisters (Julian, Thomas, Earl, Clifton, Michael, Mary and Mable)
Visitation will be at 10:30am with graveside service following at 11am Tuesday, April 18, 2023, for those who would like to say their last goodbye and celebrate Emma's birthday at Plumerville Cemetery.
We know that God is pleased to have one of his own back in his arms where she belongs. She will be sorely missed by those on earth. Goodbye for now to a wonderful and beautiful mother and Nanny.
