Meme was near and dear in all of our hearts. Growing up with her was some kind of special. Some of my fondest memories were picking blackberries from the bushes out back (maybe collecting some chiggers along the way), trying to find the fox that was hiding out, admiring the horses next door (maybe feeding them a carrot or two), and then watching the various birds from the kitchen windows.

We would play wahoo for hours, maybe a game of skip-bo or uno or yahtzee. She taught me how to be fair and to be honest and how to be a good winner and a good loser. Still to this day, meme had the most fun computer games, and she would let us play for hours.

Meme taught me all the state capitols and my times tables, how to listen from the heart and how the most simple things in life are often the grandest.

Meme loved the desert; it was her favorite kind of beauty. She loved the sand, the vastness, the Joshua trees, and the cacti.

Meme admired her collection of gemstones from which she had gathered over her lifetime from various parts of the world. With each stone carries a story, and with each story now carries a memory.

We are lucky to have been loved by meme. We are now left with only memories but may these memories guide us and may her wisdom pass through us to those whom we love. This is how her legacy will carry on, through us, to our children.

Rest in Peace my sweet meme.
