Marie Fletcher, 94, peacefully went to Heaven surrounded by family on Monday, March 13, 2023. Marie was born August 25, 1928 to Roscoe and Melissa (Lissie Balentine) Lee. She lived her whole life in Onia where she met and married, Elmer Fletcher and celebrated 56 beautiful years together. She worked in six churches over the span of 46 years as a pastor's wife. She was currently a member of Bethany Baptist Church in Onia. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who was totally devoted to her family. Above all else, she enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, always filling their stomachs with biscuits and sweets. She'd be sure to ask, "Have you eat?". Marie also enjoyed quilting, singing, sewing, cooking and canning. She was a hard worker who always took care of her family. She will be remembered as a true Proverbs 31 woman. Marie enjoyed working at Timbo school for many years, in various positions. Marie is survived by two sons, Gary (Sue) Fletcher, David (April) Fletcher; one daughter, Karen (Wayne) Harlan all of Onia; grandchildren, Shawn (April) Fletcher of Mountain View, Desra Fletcher Ware (Nathan) of Columbia, Missouri, Brandon (Anna) Harlan, Nate and Sam Fletcher all of Onia; great-grandchildren, Jett, Luke, Emily and Ella Fletcher of Mountain View and Whitney Marie Harlan of Onia; sister, Nadine Beare of Damascus; in-laws, Eldo (Joyce) Fletcher, Shirley Fletcher, Mavis Lindsey, Marilea (Jack) Duke, Maxine Lee and a host of nieces, nephews, friends and family. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Elmer; grandson, Justin Harlan; three infant grandsons, daughter-in-law, Jeannie (Patrick) Fletcher; an infant brother and brothers, Johnny and Lottie Lee and Letha Lee, Charlie and Edna Lee, Willis and Elma Lee, Thurlo and Hazel Lee, Bud and Robbie Lee; sister, Lizzie (Lee) and Bill Smithee; in-laws, J.L. and Billie Fletcher, L.E. and Rodeana Fletcher, Linville Fletcher, Olen and Elma Wilson, Bill and Gladys Morrison, Bill Lindsey, Bill Wheeler, Irene Fletcher and Stan Beare. Her unconditional love will live on forever in our hearts. She is already deeply missed, for we were loved a bushel and a peck and a hug around the neck. Again heaven has gained one of the faithful. Our prayers for the comfort and peace from the Heavenly Father for the family. Pastor Charles and Donna Moore.
She was a Christian woman that I really did look up to as an example. Preachers wife that I admired for her helping hand to Bro. and Uncle Elmer. She made Ronnie's life so much more enjoyable when she worked at school for him. He loved her in the audience when he preached so he could tease her about riding a white horse in the future. She would always hate for him to say that because she would say I hate riding horses. He looked up to her as his mother after Elma passed away. We dearly loved her and will miss her so much.
A wonderful lady who will be fondly missed by all that knew and loved her.
I have lost one of the best friends I I have ever known. I am sorry I am not physically able to be at her services but my prayers are with all the family, especially the immediately ones! God Bless you all! We love you!Odis and Pat Stevens
Marie was such a wonderful, kind, and caring lady. I first met Marie when I was eleven, and my family joined Red Doors Church where her husband, Elmer, was the pastor. They were both so kind to us and set excellent examples of how Christians should live. I am sorry for your family loss. Your family is in my prayers.
