Hymon Artis Evans, Sr., 83, of Bigelow, Arkansas went to be with the Lord March 9, 2023. He was born October 10, 1939 in Bigelow, Arkansas to Ollie Evans and Culer Dockery Evans.
Hymon was preceded in death by his parents; children, Mary and Bernard; brother, Edward W. Evans and sister, Katherine Baker.
Hymon accepted Christ at an early age at Bethel AME Church, where he was a trustee and graduated from Morrilton Sullivan High School in Morrilton, Arkansas.
He went on to further his education at Shorter College in Little Rock, Arkansas, where he was Vice President of the Social Club and had dreams of being an Engineer and later attended Petit Jean Vocational School in Morrilton, Arkansas.
He retired from Amtran in Conway, Arkansas after 20 years of service. After retirement he resided in Bigelow, Arkansas until his death.
Hymon is survived by his wife of 59 years, Maggie Evans; his children, Hymon Artis Evans, Jr., (Tabitha) of Conway, Duane Evans (Kellie), Wayne Evans (Late Nicole), Sherri Evans Nichols of Bigelow, Arkansas and his brother, Judge Nathaniel Evans of Bigelow, Arkansas; twelve grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
There will be a visitation on Friday, March 17, 2023 from 6:00pm - 8:00pm at Roller-McNutt Funeral Home in Conway, Arkansas. Funeral Services will be Saturday, March 18, 2023 at Bethel AME Church, 112 Bethel AME Road, Bigelow, Arkansas. Interment will follow at Casey Cemetery, Bigelow, Arkansas.
