Howard Gene Metcalf, 71, of Conway passed away on Sunday, March 5, 2023. Howard was born on November 12, 1951 in Lamar, Missouri to William Wallace and Hattie M Metcalf. Howard graduated from Bauxite High School in 1970 and enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. He retired from Wal-Mart Bakery in 2018. For those who knew Howard, they would say though at times he may be quiet, he loved his family more than anything. Howard enjoyed time with family, fishing, going to St. Louis Cardinals games with his son, always looking forward to his next cruise, and making sure he played, sang and danced his heart out with his 2 grandchildren who were his pride and joy.

He is preceded in death by his parents William Wallace and Hattie M. Metcalf, Brother Robert Metcalf and Sister Georgia Jensen, Daughter Char-Lynn Metcalf, and Son, Justin Metcalf.

Howard is survived by his best friend and wife of 31 years, Alisha Dyane (Certain) Metcalf of Conway, Arkansas, his two sons, Joshua Metcalf (Michael Rice) of Conway, Arkansas, Matthew Cory Metcalf (Jessie), grandchildren, Mariana and Jackson all of Conway, Arkansas; daughter, Tosha Silva of Benton, Arkansas. He is also survived by his brothers, Jerry of New Edinburg, Arkansas, Bill (Deanna) of Redmond, Oregon and his sisters, Betty of Salt Lake City, Utah and Wanda of Durant, Oklahoma. Also his adopted children, Zachary Phillips, Susan Jester (Adam), Cody Hughes and adopted granddaughter Emma Jester, along with many beloved nieces and nephews.

The family plans to meet for a Celebration of Life on Thursday April 6, 2023 at 12:00pm at Rock Solid Church in Conway to celebrate his life and the anniversary of his marriage to his wife.

The family would like to give a special thanks to the Conway Fire Department, Staff at Superior Health and Rehab in Conway, the Nurses and Doctors who provided care until his final moments at UAMS Hospital in Little Rock.

We hate to hear this about Howard, our prayers and sympathy goes out to his family. I met Howard through his cousins at Wrights Chapel Church, he was a great guy. He took our wedding pictures in 1979. Always enjoyed "running" into him once in a blue moon. Prayers 🛐 for the family.

Howard was a great friend from the time we met in school. He was a great guy and was instrumental in helping me get through High School especally with homework. We would talk for hours when he was in the Marines away from home. He and I shared an appartment in Little Rock for a while and had a lot of great times especally going out clubing at the Checkmate. Lots of great memories and I will miss him.
