William ''Billy'' Joseph Simon, 66, of Marion, Arkansas, passed away Thursday, February 9, 2023, at the Regional One Medical Center in Memphis, Tennessee. He was born March 10, 1956, to Henry Simon and Alice Watson in West Memphis, Arkansas. He loved going to the beach and having his children and grandchildren surround him.
Billy was a veteran serving in the U.S. Airforce. He was a deputy coroner for many years in Crittenden County. He spent most of his life as a registered nurse helping countless people to recovery. Billy was a member of the Missouri Street Church of Christ. He loved his church home and everyone in it. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Billy loved life, enjoyed grilling and spoiling his grandchildren. He was always willing to help anyone who needed anything. He proudly serviced in the fire department of Earle, Turrell and Marion.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Alice Watson.
Billy is survived by his wife of 36 years, Janice Simon of Marion; daughters, Carli Benson (Dean) of Jonesboro, Anna Jackson (Charles) of Marion; son, William J. Simon, Jr. of Collierville, TN; grandchildren, Cameron Benson, Lillian Benson, Bentley Jackson, Peyton Jackson, Caroline Jackson, Charli Jackson, and Taylor Grace Simon; sisters, Teri Boon (Eddie) of Gilmore, Chris Simon Pepple of Germantown, TN; father, Henry Simon (Norma); and lots of extended family.
Funeral services will be 11:00 AM, Thursday, February 16, 2023, at the Missouri Street Church of Christ, 1600 North Missouri Street, West Memphis, AR, with Dan Shepherd and Mike Seale officiating. Burial will follow at Crittenden Memorial Park in Marion.
Visitation will precede the service beginning at 10:00 AM at the church.
Honored to serve as pallbearers will be Dean Benson, Charles Jackson, Cameron Benson, Bentley Jackson, Eddie Boon, Joey Simon, Ed Horton, Steve Horton, Chris Clark and Brian Ellis. Honorary pallbearers will be Ronnie Clark, Gene Wilson, Will Boon and Billy Chadwick.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to the American Heart Association (www.heart.org) or the Missouri Street Church of Christ.
Arrangements are under the direction of Roller-Citizens Funeral Home of West Memphis.
