Shirley Ann Luster, 87, of Kensett, Arkansas passed from this life at her home with her family at her side on January 8, 2023. She was born on August 12, 1935 in Turrell, Arkansas. She was the eldest of eight children born to T.C. McClendon and Alice Ruth Moore. Shirley is preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and one sister.
She lived in Chicago, Illinois prior to moving to California where she resided for 31 years. She met the love of her life, Tommy Luster while she was living in San Francisco and they were united in marriage July 2, 1966 in Reno, Nevada. She also lived in Suisun City, California for a number of years before they moved to Arkansas in 1995.
Shirley was a loving mother to her only child, Monica Bradley along with her foster son that she raised as her own. She learned these motherly traits from a very young age as she helped her mother with her younger siblings since their mother had health issues.
All her life she has been active in church wherever she lived and this continued in Kensett as they were members of Centennial Baptist Church. While in California was an active member of the Order of Eastern Star and was on the Drill Team for many years. She wore many hats. She was a care provider for many years. She was known for her cakes, loved arts and crafts and millinery. She loved to dress and it always included her hats.
Left to morn her passing is her husband of 56 years, Tommy Luster of Kensett; daughter, Monica (Billie) Bradley of Suisun City, California; son, Anthony (Sheillanda) Foster of Lathrop, California; God Daughters, Antonella Brecks of Oakland, California, Lonya Chase of North Little Rock, Arkansas and Maria Oates of Little Rock, Arkansas; a special son Oz Angel of California; three sisters Delois Johnson, Chicago, IL; Louise Chatman (Clarence), Kensett, AR; Claudester Cooperwood, Kensett; one brother Carlee McClendon (Connie); a special cousin Booker Horner, Stuttgart, AR; a special friend, Jackieline Arnold along with a host of friends.
The family would like to extend a special Thank You to Maragret Smith and Elite Hospice of Arkansas for their loving care of Shirley.
Services for Mrs. Luster are scheduled for Visitation to be held Friday, January 20, 2023 at Roller-Daniel Funeral Home Chapel from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM with the Funeral Service on Saturday, January 21, 2023 at Centennial Baptist Church in Kensett at 11:00 AM. Interment to follow at White County Memorial Gardens in Searcy.
