Lynda Laman Colvert

May 24, 1942 - January 11, 2023

Lynda Laman Colvert was born on May 24, 1942 and passed away peacefully on January 11, 2023 at the age of 80. She lived her entire life in Arkansas, with years in Little Rock, Berryville, Conway and Fort Smith. Her life purpose was to help others. She dedicated herself to her family, her community, her church, her friends and to those in need.

Lynda graduated from Berryville High School and Ouachita Baptist University with a degree in psychology. She taught children with special needs and truly loved her relationship with each of these children. She continued using her teaching and leadership skills as she purchased the Children's Center in Little Rock and Conway. Lynda also was active in real estate with L&L Real Estate and The Linkous Company. She was a co-developer in several subdivisions in Little Rock, Bryant and Sherwood.

Lynda and her family lived many years in Southwest Little Rock where they loved their neighborhood and friends. They were active supporters of the McClellan High School Lions and served her church, Geyer Springs Baptist Church, faithfully. Throughout her life, Lynda was dedicated to community service and political causes. She served on numerous boards and volunteered for several Democratic candidates, specifically David Pryor, Bill Clinton and Jimmy Carter.

Lynda's greatest joy, however, was spending time with her large family at the River House, where they would trout fish, deer hunt and serve big family meals. She and her girls made many trips to Destin together, enjoying the ocean and taking long walks.

She is preceded in death by her parents, JT and Hazel Laman, of Little Rock. Lynda is survived by two daughters, Jennifer Myers (Mark) of Fort Smith and Elizabeth Paul of Benton and four grandchildren, Tanner Wilson of Baltimore, Maryland, Hunter Wilson of Little Rock, Amber Paul of Benton and Stone Paul of Thibodaux, Louisiana. She was also blessed with one precious great-grandchild, Hazel Owen of Benton, who brought her much joy and happiness. Lynda is also survived by two sisters, Kathy Besancon (Hal) of North Little Rock, Judy Fuller (Dale) of Little Rock; her brother, John Laman (Virginia) of Little Rock and Dwight Linkous, father of their children. Lynda is loved by five nephews, Lane Blaylock of North Little Rock, JD Fuller (Kristi), Bryan Fuller (Heather), John Thomas Laman of Little Rock and Robert Fuller (Heather) of Waco, TX.

The family would like to give special thanks to the wonderful staff of Methodist Village in Fort Smith for their care during the past few years and specifically, much gratitude to Martha Williamson, Tonja Harris and Lisa Poffinbarger for their unlimited acts of kindness.

There will be a memorial service on Monday, January 16, 2023 at Roller-Chenal Funeral Home in Little Rock at 1:30 p.m., with visitation preceding the service at 12:30 p.m. Online guestbook: www.rollerfuneralhomes.com/chenal

I can’t add much more to the sweet things said about Ms Lynda, other than I am another friend of Jen’s who Lynda went out of the way to make at home in her house and give me a great role model to learn from. I am so sorry hear of her passing. Love you, Jen and Beth Ann!

Lynda was a great woman. She is the reason I have my Associates in Early Childcare. I think of her all the time. She knew what I was going to do with my life before I knew. She will be missed dearly. Love always for one Fantastic Woman.

She always made everyone feel like part of her family even when we drove her crazy! Her infectious smile lit up a room like a 1000 candles. A beautiful soul! Miss Linda - your light will always shine through your girls! Sing, dance and shine your light on us all! Love you Jennifer!

I had the privilege of caring for her, she was such an honest woman but also gentle with her words. She was always ready to teach and lead the way if there was something I didn’t know how to do whether it was from cooking to politics, she really was like a mother hen to the girls who cared for her.

My heart is heavy with the loss of a dear friend and confidant. I worked with her during her many business ventures. She remained a true friend afterwards and I loved her dearly. She was passionate about family, business and life. She exhibited enormous strength at every turn and knew when it was time to graciously step into her next chapter. To her family she would say love each other. Prayers for all her family and friends.

All of Archie's kids and Aunt Edna are so sad to learn of Lynda's passing. She was a lovely and dynamic person. Clearly she was a caring person who gave to her family, church and community. I can imagine the Lord saying to her "well done, they good and faithful servant." We pray for her girls, her siblings and extended family. May the Lord comfort you and give your heart joy in remembering Lynda and in the certainty that she is with the Lord.

We were members of Geyer Springs First Baptist Church at the time that Lynda was a member there. Our children are the same age as hers and were in many church activities together and their friendships remain today. We will always remember Lynda and her family and it was nice to have a reconnection with her when she moved to Ft. Smith.

Lynda was a wonderful lady and great friend, she will be missed and remembered always.

Lynda and I were freshman at Ouchita together. Later we connected at Geyer Springs First Baptist Church. We enjoyed our two oldest daughters going to church and piano recitals together. We passed through each other’s lives and enjoyed doing life together. She was always so gracious and sweet. The world was blessed by her presence. Love to Judy and Jennifer. Dwell on good memories.
