James Edward Gates, 74, of Paragould, AR passed away Sunday, November 27, 2022 at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House in Jonesboro, AR. James was born January 1, 1948 in Dyess, AR to James Thomas and Willie Mae (Kimberland) Gates. James worked for General Motors and loved fishing and hunting.

James was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Linda Rusher.

Those left behind to cherish the memories of James include his wife, Flavia (Isom) Gates; five sons, James Gates III, Harvey Knuckles, Kevin Knuckles, Ben Knuckles and Joseph Chambers; three daughters, Amy Gates, Iris Greenway and Christy Adams; 17 grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren and a brother, Dan (Bonnie) Gates.

Funeral services will be 2 pm Friday, December 2, 2022 at Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home, 1900 West Washington Avenue in Jonesboro, 72450, with Bill Legere officiating. Burial will follow at Linwood Cemetery in Paragould.

Visitation will precede the service beginning at 1 pm until time of the service.
