of Bentonville, AR
October 16, 1942 - November 24, 2022
Joe was born October 16, 1942 in Greenbrier, Arkansas. After graduating from Greenbrier High School, he entered the Army Reserves for a short time, until he began his career in the rural telephone business, where he devoted over 30 years across Arkansas, Oklahoma and Kansas, before retiring at the age of 51. Throughout his career, he formed many long lasting relationships and left an impact on everyone he worked with.
In 1963, he met his beloved wife, Mary Virginia "Ginger" Sullivan and they wed in 1964. Joe and Ginger were blessed with three children, Joseph "Joey" T. Ellzey Jr., Jason Ellzey and Suzanne Ellzey Mcleod.
His family meant more to him than anything else in the world, something he proudly and often mentioned. He was endlessly proud of his kids and even more proud of his 5 grandchildren. Anyone who knew Joe knew that he was the most loving father and grandfather a family could ask for.
Joe was also an avid Golfer, loved to watch and cheer on the Razorbacks, read John Grisham books, hang out with his beloved Dog Murphy and spending time with his grandkids.
Joe was preceded in death by his Mother, Haligene Glover Ellzey; Father, Clinton Ellzey and Wife, Mary Virginia "Ginger" Ellzey. He is survived by his children: Son, Joey Ellzey and wife, Stephanie; Granddaughters, Grace & Hope of Wichita, KS; Son , Jay Ellzey and wife, Amy; Grandson, Jack, & Granddaughter, Mary Kate of Olathe, KS; Daughter, Suzanne Ellzey Mcleod and Grandson, Cayden Lewis of Bentonville, AR.

I didn't know Joe well in our adult years because he lived out of state for so many years, but I remember him and other Ellzey cousins growing up in Springhill. He seemed larger than life to me, but he was always good to me and fun to be around.
Sincere sympathy and regards to his children and grandchildren; I know he loved you unconditionally.
A cousin, Pam Stroud (daughter of Joe's aunt Cornell Ellzey Reynolds)
