Russel Curtis Whitt, 76, of Roland passed away, November 20, 2022. He was born October 8, 1946, to Virgil and Cassie Williams Whitt in Roland. Russel was a wonderful Christian man who loved the Lord and the Lord loved him. He taught his family to love the Lord also. Not by just his words but also by his actions. He loved his sports too. During football season you'd find him cheering on his razorbacks on Saturdays and on Sundays cheering on his cowboys, but come baseball season, he was all about his cardinals. He was a deacon of Roland Baptist church for almost 50 years. And last but certainly not least, he was a great husband and wonderful father. He will be greatly missed.
Russel was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Lela Carol Whitt; siblings, Virgil Whitt, Jr.; Aubrey Whitt; Kay Grice; Phyllis Ryles; Virginia Cruse; and Oma Quinn. He is survived by his wife, Lawanda and children, Clayton Russel Whitt; Kevin Charles Whitt (Teresa); seven grandchildren, two great granddaughters and one great grandchild on the way; siblings, Larry Whitt (Marilyn); Wayne Whitt (Sue); Lynda Mackey and sister-in-law, Lita Whitt.
Visitation will be from 12-1 pm Friday, November 25, 2022 at Roller Chenal Funeral Home with graveside services following 2 pm, at Rainey Cemetery in Roland.

Aunt Lawanda, I am lifting you up in prayer for our Comforter to keep you in His care and give you the strength to carry on. Uncle Russel reminded me so much of my Dad and the rest of his brothers and sisters. He was gentle but strong and wise. He understood commitment and modeled it by the way he lived his life.
He is a great example of the man I want to be. Well done Uncle Russel. Now go rest high on that mountain because your work on earth is done.
I am comforted by the fact that we will be reunited on the other side.
