Ruth Lavaughn (Smith) Watson, 87, of Harrisburg, AR left this earth on October 28, 2022. She was born on March 8, 1935 in Booneville, MS to Archie and Ollie Belle (Jones) Smith. She was the oldest of 6 children.

Ruth met her prince charming at Weona, AR when she was 16. When she was 16 1/2 years old, she married R.L. Watson and they were married for 47 years until his death. They gave birth to 2 daughters.

Most of Ruth's working life was spent at Johannson Shoe Factory where she was a "fancy stitcher". She was a hard worker.

Ruth loved her family and friends and loved talking to them on the phone.

For around 49 years, Ruth faithfully attended Holly Springs Chapel. At the age of 16, she accepted Jesus as her Savior and led her family to follow Him.

Ruth is preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a grandchild, Bryce Mabry; 2 sisters, Bonnie Jean Smith and Mary Lou Carroll and a brother, Virgil Wayne Smith.

Those left behind to cherish the memory of Ruth are her loving daughters, Reba (Steve) Mabry of Harrisburg and Debbie (David) Hartshorn of Paragould; 4 grandchildren, Chrissy (Dave) Clayton, Katie (Justin) Vinson, Erin (Jeremy) Holland, Dalyn (Jody) Sutton; 7 great-grandchildren, Macey Clayton, Barrett Clayton and Cooper Clayton of Russellville, Cameron Sutton of Harrisburg, Hunter Cottingham of Paragould and Tate and Hattie Holland of Paragould; 2 sisters, Joann Harris of West Memphis and Barbara Sue Brazil of West Memphis and a host of other family and friends.

Chapel services will be 1 pm Wednesday, November 2, 2022 at Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home, 1900 West Washington Avenue in Jonesboro with Steve Mabry and Bro. Banks officiating. Burial will follow at Holly Springs Cemetery in Harrisburg.

Visitation will precede the service beginning at 12 pm.

Jody Sutton, David Clayton, Jeremy Holland, Justin Vinson, Barrett Clayton and Cameron Sutton will proudly serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Cooper Clayton, Tate Holland and Hunter Cottingham.
