Bettye Post Hosto

of Little Rock, AR

March 18, 1940 - October 23, 2022

Bettye Post Hosto passed away on October 23, 2022. She was born on March 18, 1940 in Kingsland, Arkansas to parents Ralph and Cleo (Davis) Post.

After graduating from Stephens High School in 1957, Bettye moved to Little Rock in 1959 and worked at Smith's Country Club Drugstore where she met her husband, Lester Hosto, who was in his final year of Pharmacy School. They married April 23rd, 1961 and remained so until his death in 1995.

Bettye and Lester founded the local Optimist Club where Bettye coached many softball teams. She also played for several local softball teams as pitcher and she was known for an unusually high arc pitch which confounded opposing team's batters.

While her children were young, she always served as room mother and volunteered for all school activities. She attended all their ballgames, wherever and whenever they were held.

Bettye and Lester travelled often due to Lester's involvement in national Pharmacy organizations. A highlight was their trip to Australia which she talked about often. She loved her yard and grew numerous types of day lillies and hostas which she shared with others. Her yard was such that passers-by would often stop and admire her work, talking with her for hours.

In later years, the lights of her life were her four grandchildren, who called her ''Momo''. She was always available to care for them and spoil them rotten.

She suffered greatly the untimely deaths of her husband, her daughter Donna Hosto Parker and her grandson Cole Andrew Parker.

She is predeceased by siblings Monita White (Perry), Leon Post (Barbara) and Waybern Post (Sharon).

She is survived by her son, Bryan Hosto (Sherrill); her grandchildren Kris Parker, Hayden Hosto, and Barrett Hosto; her sister Rhoda Feagins (Orley), and numerous nieces and nephews. She was a member of Pinnacle View Methodist Church.

Visitation will be held on Friday, Oct. 28 at 6 PM at Roller Chenal. Funeral Services will be Saturday Oct, 29 at 10 AM also at Roller Chenal, followed by a brief committal service at Kennerly Cemetery in Roland.

Memorials may be made to the Hosto Scholarship Fund at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock.

Dear Bryan, Sherrill, Grandchildren, and Family,

I knew Bettye and Lester before they were married. After marriage, they became great leaders in the community.

Bettye and I became friends when Bryan and Sam started school. We were room mothers doing volunteer jobs, helping with parties, fields trips, and of course many days at ball fields...lots of fun experiences!

Being friends for over 50 years is special! She will be missed by all who knew her-a talented, caring lady.

With sympathy, love, and prayers for peace,

Zela Strange

Bettye Hosto will be forever known as Aunt Bettye to me. She was beautiful inside and out. Her daughter Donna and I became friends in first grade and remained friends all the way to graduation. Aunt Bettye hosted many sleep overs and carpooled us girls to dance class to the Little Rock Boys Club.
She will be missed. - Sincerely, Rita Johnson Towles

Bettye was delightful always with that smile. Bettye, along with Sara Tipton, was room mother my first year of teaching at Joe T. Donna was in that memorable 3rd grade class. Bettye was always there for anything I needed. Always loved her.
May she Rest In Peace
