Opal A. Aday

of Chimes, AR

August 20, 1921 - October 6, 2022

Opal Aday (Myrick), age 101, was born on August 21, 1921 to Sarah and Frank Myrick, the second of five children. She is preceded in death by her husband, Clifford; siblings, Sybil, Stanley, Dorsey, W.D. and son, Mike. She married Clifford Aday in 1943 and they had three boys, Guinn, Mike and Allen. They lost Mike when he was just a baby, but she is now reunited with him, Clifford and other family members gone on before her. Opal peacefully passed away on October 6, 2022, but was alert and knew we loved her until the very end.

She loved to work in her garden and share anything she grew with her family and neighbors. For decades, the highlight of our week was lunch at her home after church on Sundays. She continued to amaze us that she could still make her fried pies and dumplings that she was known for even until her late 90s! She gave away countless fried pies and vegetables from her garden to her family, neighbors, church and fire department gatherings, displaying her generous and loving spirit.

Opal taught first and second grade at Witt Springs School for over thirty years. She was a strict, but beloved teacher of generations of students that still talk of having Mrs. Aday in school.

Opal faithfully attended Archey Valley Church. You didn't have to be around her long to recognize the faith she had and the love for her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She would often say things like, ''Just trust in the Lord and things will work out''. The family takes great comfort in knowing that she will spend eternity with her family and friends gone on before her.

She was a devoted Granny, mother, wife, sister, aunt, friend, church member and community supporter. The family left to cherish her memory are; sons, Guinn Aday (Peggy) of Chimes, Allen Aday (Tamie) of Clinton; three grandchildren, Kristy Eastridge of Clinton, Brent Aday (Kristina) of Chimes, Justin Aday (Kristin) of Damascus and five great grandchildren, Tyler Aday of Harrison, Lyndsey Aday of Chimes, Zack Aday of Chimes, Austin and Aiden Aday of Damascus. She also leaves several nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.

The family wishes to give a special thanks to Kristina for her tireless care for Opal for the past several years, particularly the last year and a half. Also included in this are Lyndsey, Tyler and Ramona for taking care of her every need with love.

Funeral arrangements are being done by Roller McNutt Clinton. Visitation and the funeral will be held at Archey Valley Church at 10:00 and 11:00 am on Monday, Oct. 10, 2022.

Praying for all the family after the loss of Mrs. Aday. Although I was just in her second grade class for a short time, she influenced my life and so many others in her teaching. She will be missed!

Aday family, I am so sorry for your loss. Hers was a life well-lived for others and for the Lord. Kristy, I know how very much you loved and cherished her. My prayers are that your grief will diminish and be replaced with joy that you had the blessing of her presence for so much of all your lives

My sincere condolences on the passing of Mrs Aday. I was just one of many who was influenced for the better by having her as a teacher. The days of loss and grieving here on earth will surely pale in comparison to the glad reunion you will have some sweet day.

Such a wonderful long life. Both of us remember her as a teacher & a sweet person. She came by Bennie's desk every day, rub his head and ask how he was. Maybe she loved his curls as I do but I bet it was more than that. She can certainly teach us to care about others.

I wish I could be at the service tomorrow, but I want to express my love and appreciation for my first and second grade teacher, Mrs. Aday, who took care of all of us, and was a big influence on my life! I used to spend some of my recesses talking to her, even though she probably wished I would just go play. She was always willing to listen, though, and let me hang out with her. My thoughts and prayers are with all of her family! I know she will be greatly missed!

I am so sorry to hear of Opal’s passing. Didn’t she have an amazing life over the past 101 years! So many changes during her lifetime.
My father Wayne Aday was Clifford’s first cousin. I have fond memories of spending the night at their home as a young person. And the great meals Opal prepared.
Prayers for you all.
