Jerry Clay Groves, age 83, went home to Jesus on September 22, 2022. Jerry was born to Clay and Margaret Groves on February 21, 1939 in Robertson County, Tennessee. He grew-up in Dover, TN, attended The University of Tennessee-Martin and completed his Doctor of Pharmacy from The University of Tennessee Health Science Center College of Pharmacy, Memphis.
Jerry's love for the Lord gave his life purpose and led his family in its devotion to Christ. As a pharmacist, business owner, family man and faith-filled church leader in Tennessee, Kentucky and Arkansas, Jerry was loved by many for his care, humor, fairness, commitment, friendliness and knowledge. He excelled at the game of golf and enjoyed friendships with many through the sport that gave him much enjoyment.
Jerry met Nancy in 1959 at Bellevue Baptist, Memphis. They married in 1960 and went on to have three children. They lived briefly in Nashville, Portland, TN and Murray, KY, before they lived in Blytheville, AR for 22 years. Jerry and Nancy moved to the Little Rock area in 1988. Jerry joins his mother and father in Heaven.
He is survived by wife, Nancy; daughter, Mary Margaret (Jim) Hall of Bentonville, AR and grandchildren, Lee (Kaleigh) Hall, Jared (Katie) Hall and Clay (Abbie) Hall; son, Doug (Lisa) Groves of Bryant, AR and grandchildren, Josh Groves, Tyler (Katelyn) Groves (great-grandchildren Lucy and Liza) and Ashley (Dusten) Blair; son, Mark (Sarah) Groves of Knoxville, TN and grandchildren, Gracie Groves and Lily Groves and sister, Kay Brigham and family.
A visitation will begin at 1:00pm Sunday, September 25, 2022 at Roller-Chenal Funeral Home, Little Rock. A celebration of life is at 2:00pm, officiated by Dr. Rex Horne. Burial will follow at Riverwood Memorial Gardens, Maumelle, Arkansas. The family requests any memorials be given to Immanuel Baptist Church - Little Rock, Gideon's International or CARTI (Arkansas non-profit comprehensive cancer center).
My mother, Louise Arnold and Mr. Grooves worked together for many years at Plaza Drug Store. She has often wondered where Mr. Grooves was and how he was doing. She will be sadden of the news of his passing.
I am so sorry to hear of the passing of Jerry. I have such fond memories of Jerry and Nancy from our First Baptist Church Days in Blytheville. My daddy, Jesse Eubanks, and Jerry were golfing buddies. They went on golf trips together to The Bahamas, and Miami. Jerry gave me my very first job at Christmas time wrapping gifts when I was home from college.

So very sorry to hear of Jerry's passing. I literally grew up knowing he and Kaye from as far back as I can remember back in Dover, TN. Wonderful family and I know he will be missed by all who knew him.

We have lost a close relative, first cousin. I remember Jerry fondly as a decent, loving individual. I really haven't been with him since Uncle Clay's death. Jerry Groves gave me my first job while I was in high school. He became more to me than my employer. He and his family were dear to me. A wonderful memory of the Groves family will be mine forever.

Growing up in Dover during the 40’s and 50’s was almost a magical time! I have such wonderful memories of our families and the friendships!
