Jerry Clay Groves

of Little Rock, AR

February 21, 1939 - September 22, 2022

Jerry Clay Groves, age 83, went home to Jesus on September 22, 2022. Jerry was born to Clay and Margaret Groves on February 21, 1939 in Robertson County, Tennessee. He grew-up in Dover, TN, attended The University of Tennessee-Martin and completed his Doctor of Pharmacy from The University of Tennessee Health Science Center College of Pharmacy, Memphis.

Jerry's love for the Lord gave his life purpose and led his family in its devotion to Christ. As a pharmacist, business owner, family man and faith-filled church leader in Tennessee, Kentucky and Arkansas, Jerry was loved by many for his care, humor, fairness, commitment, friendliness and knowledge. He excelled at the game of golf and enjoyed friendships with many through the sport that gave him much enjoyment.

Jerry met Nancy in 1959 at Bellevue Baptist, Memphis. They married in 1960 and went on to have three children. They lived briefly in Nashville, Portland, TN and Murray, KY, before they lived in Blytheville, AR for 22 years. Jerry and Nancy moved to the Little Rock area in 1988. Jerry joins his mother and father in Heaven.

He is survived by wife, Nancy; daughter, Mary Margaret (Jim) Hall of Bentonville, AR and grandchildren, Lee (Kaleigh) Hall, Jared (Katie) Hall and Clay (Abbie) Hall; son, Doug (Lisa) Groves of Bryant, AR and grandchildren, Josh Groves, Tyler (Katelyn) Groves (great-grandchildren Lucy and Liza) and Ashley (Dusten) Blair; son, Mark (Sarah) Groves of Knoxville, TN and grandchildren, Gracie Groves and Lily Groves and sister, Kay Brigham and family.

A visitation will begin at 1:00pm Sunday, September 25, 2022 at Roller-Chenal Funeral Home, Little Rock. A celebration of life is at 2:00pm, officiated by Dr. Rex Horne. Burial will follow at Riverwood Memorial Gardens, Maumelle, Arkansas. The family requests any memorials be given to Immanuel Baptist Church - Little Rock, Gideon's International or CARTI (Arkansas non-profit comprehensive cancer center).

I am so sorry to hear of the passing of Jerry. I have such fond memories of Jerry and Nancy from our First Baptist Church Days in Blytheville. My daddy, Jesse Eubanks, and Jerry were golfing buddies. They went on golf trips together to The Bahamas, and Miami. Jerry gave me my very first job at Christmas time wrapping gifts when I was home from college.
Love and prayers to Nancy and your family. I know Jerry and my daddy are having a wonderful reunion in Heaven! Love, Kathy E Nelms

We have lost a close relative, first cousin. I remember Jerry fondly as a decent, loving individual. I really haven't been with him since Uncle Clay's death. Nancy & I always traded Christmas cards with photos so that's how I kept up with Jerry & how proud he was of his family. Sending love & best wishes to Nancy, Kay and the Groves family. May God bless & be with you all. Love to all.
