Mrs. Sara Rupard McGaughey Schexnaydre, 89, of Jonesboro went to be with her Lord, Monday, September 19, 2022. She was born in Brookland to Jack and Helen Rupard, October 11, 1932. She was raised in Dixie, Arkansas and was Miss Dixie in 1949. Mrs. Schexnaydre was a graduate of Dixie in 1950. She pursued a career in cosmetology and owned and operated two beauty shops in Jonesboro for many years. She was named Ms. Cosmetologist in 1959.
Sara married Carl Schexnaydre in 1977 and moved to New Orleans, where she was Mardi Gras Queen in 1978. Sara and Carl loved to travel. She loved to garden, play golf, tennis, card games and shopping therapy. Sara was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Paragould.
Preceding Sara in death were her parents and husband.
Survivors include her adopted daughter, Dorothy (Dot) Winters and extended family; cousins, Janette Gambill, Alice Branscum and family, Eddie Watson and family and a host of dear friends.
A private memorial will be held at a later date.
Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
