I served in the Army.

Stevens Lyn YarberryI am a Veteran.

of North Little Rock, AR

June 14, 1942 - September 16, 2022

My Dad, Stevens Lyn Yarberry, was born June 14, 1942 in Little Rock, Arkansas. He passed away September 16, 2022.
His brothers, Lawrence, Elmor, Ray and sisters, Tyncee, Georgia, Biddie, Fay and Wanda have already gone on to Heaven.
My dad was a very joyful man and loved so many people. He believed in Jesus and the power of prayer.
My dad's life journey took him from a log cabin with dirt floors and a outhouse, to the United States Army, where he served for 23 years before Honorably retiring in 1983. During his time, he traveled the world all over Europe and Korea. We never came to the United States for vacations we always loaded the old Chevy impala or Volkswagen van up and hit the roads.
After my dad's Army adventure, he worked at VA Ft. Roots. He truly loved the folks that he served and worked with.
Dad retired early from the VA but wanted to keep doing something. He loved taking care of folks, so he did home care for senior citizens. Mr. Dee Brown, author of "Bury my Heart at Wounded Knee", Mr. Campbell, an avid outdoorsman and Dr. Cloud, a retired dentist and principal, are a few of his friends.
Dad taught the senior citizen's class and he enjoyed fellowshipping with them.
Throughout his life God blessed him with five children: Robert, Steven, Richard, Helga and Eric; ten grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
My dad loved family events: horseshoes, kickball, fishing and camping, were some of his favorites. He loved to joke around and scare us kids.
Thanks dad for being the best dad in the whole world. We will miss you more than words can say.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Arkansas Children's Hospital, Ronald McDonald House, or local food banks.
A Celebration of Life will be held Friday, September 23, from 9:00 to 11:30 a.m., at New Hope Nazarene Church, 5519 Atwood Road, Little Rock. Interment will follow at the Little Rock National Cemetery at 12:30 p.m.

Stevens was one of my favorite Food Service Supervisors at the VA. He was always smiling and loved the staff he worked with and the Veterans he served. Prayers for the repose of his soul.
