Nancy Story Toland ("Manee"), passed away peacefully September 9th, 2022 surrounded by her loving family. Nancy was born in Council Bluffs, IA and spent her younger years in Hillcrest. She is preceded in death by her parents, Vern and Norma Story and three siblings. She is survived by her children, Susan Cookus and Chuck Toland; three grandchildren, Keith Cookus, Lindsay Van Parys and Jacob Toland and three great-grandchildren, Myles, Grayson and Shelby Van Parys.
Nancy grew up an active member of Pulaski Heights United Methodist Church, where the children's building is named after her mother. It was there she met her infamous bridge club members and best friends. Nancy loved her family something fierce and never missed her grandchildren's sporting events. She loved Razorback football, yard sales, Panama City Beach, sweet tea "with an extra glass of ice", shopping, sharing her candy stash and giving to others. She brought whimsy and flair to any event she attended, always adding extra life to any party.
Nancy's infectious smile and cheerful demeanor greeted all who entered War Memorial Stadium for the 47 years that she was office manager, retiring finally at age 81. Nancy was also secretary of the University of Arkansas Razorback Club, Letterman's Club (18 years) and The Arkansas Sports Hall of Fame (22 years), where she was also inducted as an honorary member. Nancy will forever be remembered by her generous spirit and is a legend to all that knew her.
A memorial service will be 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 13, 2022 at Pulaski Heights United Methodist Church.
Dearest Chuck and Susan, I was so sad to hear your Momma has passed into spirit. We lost Daddy a year ago and I know all too well the path you are now on with neither parent with us on earth. I know you will find comfort in SOO many happy memories. I just loved your Momma. She was so fun and seemed to love having her house full of all we teenagers! I have the warmest memories of hanging out at your house after youth events. It was always so cozy and decorated to the hilt!! She truly was a legend!! All my love and thanksgiving for our Mommas and Daddies.
Susan & Chuck, I am praying for ms y happy memories with your sweet Momma. She was a delightful woman & I can’t believe she is gone. Much love, Mary Graydon Jessen
What a wonderful person Nancy was! She was so helpful during the construction of the Letterman’s Room at War Memorial Stadium. We could not have had the banquet for the Arkansas Sports Hall of Fame without Nancy. She did all the work and always with a smile on her face. Pam and I will miss her.

Will always miss her💜
My prayers and thoughts go out to the family for Nancy. - Shawn

Nancy will be missed. I had the pleasure of working with her for many years at War Memorial Stadium. She was pleasant, fun, and helped manage the entire operation. I always enjoyed kidding with her, and she could hold her own with anyone. Nancy was a true treasure and one of a kind.
Miss Nancy will be missed. She was always there for us at War Memorial on game day.. from food, hugs, passes, coffee, supplies, etc… whatever we needed. Always remembered those of us who passed thru the office. She will always have a place in my heart
RIP, my dear friend. So glad i was able to be a small part of your life for almost 25 years.
Nancy was the absolute best. She always took care of us at the stadium. Nothing like Nancy's pound cake on an early morning Razorback game day. She will be missed by many! Prayers for the family.
