Truman Don Houston, 75, of Hartman, Arkansas went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, July 30, 2022 in Clarksville, Arkansas. He was born December 7, 1946 in Hartman, Arkansas to the late Bill and Martha (Campbell) Houston. After delivery, Doc King asked what the Baby's name was. Truman's mom said she didn't have a name, so the Doc said let's name him after our President Truman. Truman was of the Baptist faith and was baptized. He graduated from Coal Hill, Arkansas in 1966. He married his lifetime love, Etta (Dobbs) Houston, in 1970. Truman worked hard his whole life starting at the age of eight. After 36 years of service, Truman retired from Tyson.
Truman had a love for life, always looked to the bright side of things. He loved fishing, gardening, hunting, riding around on his gator up to the cabin and pond and he always raised chickens. He was known as the ''Horseshoe King,'' he loved to play checkers and dominoes. He enjoyed teaching his kids, grandkids and great grandkids his skills. He always loved a good ball game, especially calling the Hogs.
Truman is preceded in death by his parents; infant son and several brothers and sisters.
He is survived by his life time love of 52 years, Etta Inez (Dobbs) Houston of Hartman; two children, #1 son, Curtis (Valerie) Houston of Hartman; #1 daughter, Melissa (Zack) Houston of Hartman; eight grandkids, #1 grandson, Christian (Jessie) Houston; #1 Grandson, Taylor (Rachel) Houston, #1 granddaughter, Victoria (Michael) Moore; #1 grandson, Tyler (Crystal) DeBusk, #1 grandson, Ryan (Zoie) Houston; #1 granddaughter, Codie (Joshua) Houston, #1 grandson, Edward Coffman and #1 granddaughter, Abigail Coffman; 7 great grandchildren, #1 great grandson, Casey, #1 great granddaughter, Cali; #1 great grandson, Cason; #1 great granddaughter, Ryleigh, #1 great granddaughte ,Ivy; #1 great granddaughter, Violet and #1 great grandson, Baby Henry; two sisters, Sara (Griffin) Houston and Linda Houston.
Visitation will be 6:00 PM 8:00 PM on Friday, August 5, 2022 at Roller-Cox Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral service will be 10:00 AM on Saturday, August 6, 2022 at Roller-Cox Funeral Home. Burial will follow at West Mount Zion Cemetery with Bro Audrey Poteet officiating. Pallbearers are his grandsons, Christian Houston, Taylor Houston, Tyler DeBusk, Michael Moore, Ryan Houston and Edward Coffman. Honorary Pallbearers are Zack Reddell, Joshua Kulp, Casey Morland, Curtis Houston, Richard Mays, John Mays, John Griffin and Ronnie Griffin. Family is requesting family and friends to wear something in Hawaiian or Razorback.
