George O. Kennedy, 77, of Cord passed away Friday, July 8, 2022.
He was born November 20, 1944 in Dowdy, Arkansas to Avery Pierce Kennedy and Lena (Sanders) Kennedy.
George was known to love God and his country. Not only was he rooted in his faith, but he was proud to serve in the United States Army, where he fought in the Vietnam War. He graduated from ASU with a bachelor's degree where he majored in Agriculture. He also worked at Citizens Bank as a Loan Officer. As a farmer, he was recognized as Independence County and District Farm Family of the Year. George was a good hearted man who enjoyed music, singing, loved to laugh and always loved to tell a joke. He enjoyed his daily visits to Country Cross Roads and being outdoors.
Survivors include his wife, Carol Etta (Chaudoin) Kennedy of the home; one daughter, Ashley Holmes (Kevin) of Jonesboro; two grandchildren, Kennedy Garland (Logan), and Kathryn Holmes; one step-son, Shane Battles of Cave City and several nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Jennifer Kennedy; three sisters, Bernice Richey, Verna Faye Latting and Evelyn Lance; three brothers, Elbert, Delbert and Joe Kennedy and an infant sister.
Graveside services will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday, July 11, 2022 at Hopewell Cemetery in Cord, Arkansas with Brother Jeff Childers officiating.

I’m so sorry to hear about George. He was a friend during our college year at ASU, and my “big brother†in our fraternity. My sincere condolences to his family.
