Marie L Smith

of Searcy, AR

September 5, 1932 - July 1, 2022

Marie L. Smith, 89, of Searcy passed from this life on July 1, 2022 with her family by her side. She was born in Little Rock, Arkansas on September 5, 1932 to her parents, the late George Paul and Rosalie Bright Kaufman. Mrs. Smith was a member of the Downtown Church of Christ for many years.

Marie was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, William R. Smith; one brother, Melvin Lee Kaufman, Sr. and two sisters, Mildred Lowry and Mary Reed.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Mike (Beverly) Smith, Mitzi (Charles) Cannon both of Searcy and Sylvia (Mark) Haile of Pangburn, eight grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren, nine great-great grandchildren, along with several nieces and nephews, other extended family members and many friends.

Marie is well known around the Searcy area, because she allowed herself to be involved in her community and served it with all she had. She worked in many areas, but all were areas of service. Marie worked and retired from Matthews with 17 years of service. She worked in the Assessor's Office, as a telephone operator, a hair dresser and at Bill's IGA; but the job she loved the most, was when she owned and operated the Searcy Florist since 1982. Her family said that she did not look at the florist as a job, but it was her hobby and her mission to her community.

Services for Ms. Marie will be on Tuesday, July 5, 2022 with visitation to be at 9:00 to10:00AM at Roller-Daniel Funeral Home Chapel followed by a Graveside service at White County Memorial Gardens at 10:30AM. The family has requested that Memorials may be made to the Sparrow's Promise, Searcy, AR or a charity of your choice.

Mitz and Sylvia, your mom meant the world to me and Spenser. She always had a smile on herb face when I went into the store and we always talked about life. I will miss her terribly. Love you all.

Marie was a special person. We went to church with her many years. She taught all four of our children in the 2 year old class. She was so patient with those toddlers. It’s the age most of them cry for a while when you leave them. She would calm them down quickly. She was our go to florist. She always had a smile for us. We are so sorry for your loss. May God give you comfort at this time.

Condolences to all of you. Marie and I went to Fuller from First Grade through Twelfth Grade. We were always good friends, and everyone enjoyed being around her. We didn't see each other very often through the years but I will miss her. May you all find peace and comfort in the example Marie set for all of us. Much love to all of you. Rebekah Brown Lewis

Mrs. Marie was a dear friend to my mom Linda and to me as well. She will be missed by all that had the privilege of knowing her. She had the biggest heart and caring spirit. Even after my mom passed away she contiued to show her kindness by placing a wreath at her grave every Christmas. She will so missed. I'll be forever greatful for her friendship that she and my mom shared. Thank You Mrs. Marie for all love, many hugs and support for many years. Forever in my heart.
