Mark Marmash

of Mountain Home, AR

June 2, 1953 - May 3, 2022

Mark Walter Marmash, 68, of Mountain Home, Arkansas passed away of a stroke on May 3, 2022 (just shy of his 69th birthday which would have been on June 2, 1953). He enjoyed playing the harmonica, telling great jokes, volunteering for charities, and spending time with his family members and friends.

Mark grew up in Baltimore, Maryland where he attended Dundalk High School and rose to the level of Eagle Scout as a youth. After high school, he worked for Western Electric before joining the Marine Corps in 1975. He was originally stationed in San Diego, California, and finally at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii where he met his wife Artemis Potts and lived there until 1989 when he returned to Baltimore to care for his elderly parents. He retired as a police officer from the Veterans Administration after serving as a trainer for other officers in both martial arts and marksmanship. It was through these trainings in Arkansas where he found his future home and moved there in 2019.

Mark is survived by his son Demetri Marmash, sister Charyn Marmash, nephew Kristopher Hallengren, and many cousins whom he loved. He was predeceased by his proud Ukrainian parents Walter and Agnes Marmash.

A memorial service will be held in Mountain Home, Arkansas on June 14, 2022, followed by interment in Oahu, Hawaii on June 16, 2022. A memorial service will also be held at his childhood church, Graceland United Methodist, on July 16, 2022, at 11:00am followed by a traditional Ukrainian lunch.

Mark was a great friend. I met Mark shortly after he moved here. Mark was one of the most kindest and charitable persons I've ever met. He'd help anyone for any reason. We had great times together and did a lot of laughing. I loved Mark and will always miss him. RIP my best friend.

Hi Karen,

We wanted to call you, but did not have your number. I am sorry. Mark would be my father in law. He mentioned you, and was happy you were friends. Take care. My number is (808) 397-6064

Mark and I met about 12 years ago, but recently we started renewing our friendship. Mark was a kind, caring and thoughtful man and was always such a gentleman. I never got to hear Mark play his harmonica, but maybe he'll get a chance to play for me one day in heaven. I shall miss him.
