of Memphis, TN
March 14, 1925 - June 5, 2022
Sybil O. Cook, 97, affectionately known as ''Bubbles'' by family and friends, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on June 5, 2022.
Sybil was born March 14, 1925 and raised in the family home of her great-grandmother in the Union Community of Oxford, Mississippi. In 1943, she became one of the many ''Rosie the Riveter'' women working at Fisher Aircraft, Memphis, where she met ''Cook'', the love of her life and husband for 69 years. Sybil lived in West Memphis, Arkansas for more than 50 years where she retired from real estate sales and served as an active member of the First Baptist Church. She always enjoyed a competitive game of Rummikub with friends, eventually teaching the game to her granddaughters who remember much fun and laughter playing it with her. Bubbles was a devoted grandmother to Halle and Olivia; they were the joy of her life.
She was preceded in death by her husband, David Hal Cook, Jr.; an infant son; four brothers; three sisters and her parents, Lloyd and Daisye Oliphant.
Left to cherish her memory are her son, David Hal Cook, III (Sandy); daughter, Gina Knox (Russell); granddaughters, Halle Knox, Olivia Howell (Michael); one sister Kay Tutor (Dillard) and many loving nieces and nephews.
The family is very thankful and appreciative for the staff of The Pointe at Kirby Gate in Memphis who have faithfully loved and cared for her during the last six years.
A private family graveside service will be held on Thursday, June 9, 2022.
There will be a visitation on Friday, June 10, 2022 from 10-11 am at First Baptist Church, 200 N. Missouri St. in West Memphis, AR followed by a memorial service at 11am.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the First Baptist Church in West Memphis or the charity of your choice.

Gin and family and David and Sandy, I know you will miss your mama! I loved her so much. Several years ago we use to talk about spiritual things. She is perfectly whole in ever way. May God grant you all strength and peace for the days ahead. She was so much like BoBo. I love you all
Gina,
Your mom was the kindest lady. Every time I saw her she went out of her way to stop & visit. I still think of her when passing your house on N. Avalon.
My prayers are with you & your family.
I’m so sorry for your loss. Thinking and praying for y’all during this time. I know the big impact Bubbles has had on you and your family. Grateful for the many ways God has used her. Sending love and prayers from Austin.
I have great memories of Ms Sybil. She helped me open my 1st checking and savings account. She always purchased a popie from me. We worked in the real estate industrial together. She always put a smile on my face.
What a wonderfully special lady! Aunt Sybil was always such a joy to be around, and she made others feel loved and important.
Mr. and Mrs. Cook were great people in Crittenden County. We have missed Mr. Cook and everyone will miss her too. Her son and daugter, David and Gina, were good friends of mine for may years. Sherri and I will include the Cook family in our daily prayers.
Love the Cook family,
Sherri and Andy Luttrell
David,
Lifting you and the family up in prayer.
Sybil, our Bubbles, was our very own Betty White! Having grown up with her as my special aunt, laughter was constant. Spending the night at her house, going on trips and just daily conversations will always hold special memories for me. Oh how she will be missed but oh how Heaven is alive with the sound of Bubblesâ¤ï¸
David, what a FUN and LOVELY lady who will be missed by all who knew her. You and Gina are in my prayers.
Roger
